I'm pretty sure the real issue is resource allocation, we have tremendous resources and the knowledge to use them, they're just mostly owned by a very very small percentage of the population and the current system supports that, like it mostly has throughout history

putting in my prediction that this address will include some warmongering comments about Venezuela, pretty sure they're going to start a land war before the midterms but they need to do more messaging first to get their base on board

Seriously, the number of times I've had to migrate off a google product because they couldn't figure out how to make money off it (and didn't want to open source it) is too damn high

I still have strong memories of a dish my mother used to make a few times a year that prominently included water chestnuts and the sinking feeling I would get as I took my first bite. Blegh

I spent a large chunk of my life deep in conservative christian culture and one of the patterns I notice a lot now when I run into the "intellectual" arm of the movement is the obstinate and determined push to fit facts to narrative. Narrative always comes first, then maybe, sometimes, they'll find some facts. "See, I was right all along". "My belief which I have held for so long in the absence of evidence is fully justified by this small set of cherry-picked data". Over and over and over again.
