I did end up getting one of those boards but I didn't want a solution that relied on tape to mount and I don't have a 3d printer to make my own adapter. Also that board didn't come with dvr and while it's got the plugs for a dvr board, it's just another unsecured piece flailing around the headset.

I found a possible solution on banggood and I ordered one, fingers crossed it's decent, I liked how easy it was to lock on or remove the module setup with the modified top plate and case. https://www.banggood.com/URUAV-AV-IN-Modification-Kit-with-5_8G-RX-PORT-V3_0-V3_0-PLUS-Digital-to-Analog-Receiver-Board-Adapter-Metal-Mounting-Case-Combo-for-Walksnail-GOGGLES-X-p-2008320.html

I didn't really care about the adapter board that came with it but I figured between the "official" one and the one that comes with the kit I would have plenty of options. It looks big enough for me to stick a runcam dvr board in there somewhere so I ordered that too https://shop.runcam.com/runcam-mini-fpv-dvr/

Now I just need to pick a module, I know everyone recommends the crossfire or fusion modules but I was hoping for something cheaper, I just want to fly my tinywhoops around the house yknow. ๐Ÿ˜„ I like the air57 too and I hope to get one someday but since I already kinda had a 75mm class whoop I was looking forward to the superlite/supersmall air65. I can see myself getting into building them eventually but the price is so good on the bind'n'flys right now I was just going to save the effort and start with those.

Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate, I still have lots to learn!

I used to swap tape cassettes out at a large hospital every night. If you could find some used hardware and had the technical expertise to administer it you could absolutely use tape backups. IIRC the cassettes themselves were dirt cheap, it was the big tape deck and some of the accessories that got really pricy. Probably not worth it unless it fits your specific situation.

also super interested, subbed, let's make some content folks

I'm really hoping we get a valve headset this coming year with some more linux support, I originally setup a whole windows vm passthrough thing just for my oculus rift s, would be nice to finally ditch that

Down for me as well ๐Ÿ˜ข , looks like it loads sometimes but all actions result in errors

honestly curious, why the hell was this downvoted? I work in this space and I thought this was still the generally accepted advice?

I love it! I've really been enjoying my meteor 75 but I'm gearing up to go analog next, thinking about an air65. Trying to do those in-place flips with the meteor 75 and the walksnail is super tough. Air65 looks like it'll be easier to fly in my house. Trying to figure out how I want to add an analog receiver to my goggles x is not as easy as I'd hoped though ๐Ÿ™„

this is really dope! My psp was the best handheld I've ever had (and I've got a steam deck)

it could do sooooo much once it was hacked, I remember being in 2006 and switching between making calls and sending texts from skype, to emulating gameboy color, to trying all the homebrew games written in lua, to watching my tv shows, to playing AAA games, to browsing the web, all on one device that fit in my pocket. It made my friend's razor phones look outdated. It was a smart phone before smart phones.

very happy to see it still getting some love

My in-law makes cowboy coffee in a great big kettle on the stove when all the kids arrive for the holidays and it's actually some of the best coffee I've ever had. What trips me out is that he drinks crappy pod coffee the rest of the year.

I've been loosely exploring this space for a couple weeks now. I got an fpv quadcopter this year and I was thinking about sharing some of my content on loops but I didn't know anything about video editing. Can confirm kdenlive and OBS studio are legit, still trying to figure those out. Would be nice to find a simpler editor I could use from my phone though. Please throw some recommendations in here if you've got them.
