Recently I was trying to find a movie from 1990.

Now, it is a niche area (chinese martial arts movie for the most part, but even within that a smaller sub-genre), so I don't expect that many seeders to have it.

However had, looking at piratebay, I found only very few matches, and barely anyone seeding. And even trying to use piratebay took me a while before I found a good proxy. That was different some years ago; it almost seems as if piratebay died.

I am not saying this is representative, but I have had a few issues with this before, in the past - say, past 12 months or so. My general impression is that torrents kind of died down or dried out - perhaps not so much for mainstream stuff, but often I am not interested in that (I no longer watch modern movies either, because they are usually just some copy/paste CGI crap, and now with AI on the rise, this will only get worse - the quality really died).

Have torrents been on the decline in general? If so, is there hope that they will ever get a revival or are they done for?

I remember having used torrents a lot when I was younger. Admittedly, I am no longer that interested in movies in general, for various reasons, and youtube kind of also killed a lot of my appetite for new movies; I just watch old stuff too or just have background music there while multitasking. Perhaps the pattern of use changed for other folks too.

Kind of new to this, have latest version of Qbittorents installed (Mac) and latest version of Jackett, have added and updated search plugins...but when I try to search for something I just get an error message: "Jackett: api key error!"

I can see that there's no Qbittorrent json file in the Application support folder, and I have no idea how to create one. Stuck and feeling lost. Am I even close to getting this to work? Frustrating....

I’ve been torrenting for probably close to 20 years. I started with Pirate Bay back in the day and then demonoid. I’ve never used a VPN before and never had an issue. I got an email yesterday that I was reported for a copyright. I downloaded about 40 movies a few nights ago. Anyone who’s familiar with this, do you know how they get reported? Does someone download it and report the IPs of the peers? Are VPNs pretty much necessary now? Thanks in advance.

Man, 4K has been around for a long time, but it never really took off for real. Do you think 1080p will become the new 720p and 4K will become the new 1080p?

I’ve never downloaded 4K because it’s way too heavy, like 15GB for a movie and even 34GB for an episode of a show… no way lol.

Here in Brazil, 1080p is still the standard, normal for everyone. But what about you guys in the US? What are you seeing? Do you think 4K will take a while to become the norm on torrents, or is it already catching on?

Planning on switching from firefox to mullvad.

I use Proton Pass extension currently and the convenience of autofill and auto saving new accounts is hard to part with.

What is the best way to implement a password manager with auto fill and auto save into mullvad? Id like to keep Proton if possible but id be willing to switch if need be.

I just reformatted my computer to windows 10 and are trying to reactivate my Mullvad account. It enters numbers on the popup but will not let me enter letters. Any solution?
