I want to use Transmission on my Mac with Proton VPN.

Do I need to link Transmission to the VPN or can I just flip the VPN on and use Transmission?

Does anyone know how to link Proton to Transmission?

Thanks in advance

I’ve been using Windscribe for a while and I’ve gotten three emails over the past year telling me to stop torrent or that they caught me torrenting something. I’m confused because this used to always be fool proof. I use Qbitorrent and I’m smart about it. I’m not sure how Spectrum keeps getting me.

I've just run Grsync to move a load of music files from my pc to a NAS. Everything moved over fine, but on the NAS it created over 200 album artwork files that were not present on my pc. I'd imagine they were embedded in the files, but I don't understand why the NAS is showing them all as files. This could be a NAS specific thing, or rsync, I'm not sure which.

Hi y'all, first time poster here. I have recently purchased a study guide (if you're curious https://wwv.isa-arbor.com/store/product/4574/) for an Arborist Certification, and it unfortunately is supplied through an online portal, Nxtbooks, that does not allow you to download a PDF.

I have purchased this book and would like to do with what I please offline, so this is quite frustrating. Can anyone suggest a program or method to create a pdf of the book while keeping the text detectable?

Thank you for any insights or assistance!

Trying to back up a UK set, Two in Clover

Getting error using "MakeMKV" stating illegal, code, etc and mentions drive

My external blu-ray drives says "2 remaining" regarding changing region

So this is legit?

didn't have the money for online backups plus being dumb and wiping my old drives that had duplicate data on it. can't recover it i think because i used veracrpy to encrypt it, i don't feel too bad about it because that's why i encrypted it.

Edit:Damn, forgot to say. It just started to disconnect and then it wouldn't reconnect, and then it just spun with no lights on. Veracrypt worked fine. Seems to a problem with the drive as some reviews mentioned it.

note:it was this drive https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0B2PZWD81?showmri

For fun, I decided to do a memory card test. I wrote data to a card, left it for little over a year, and then checked it for data loss. These are the details of the test, and the results.

Details:

  • April 12, 2024 10:11PM the card was disconnected from power source (computer).
  • July 30, 2025 9:45AM the card was reconnected to power source (computer), and re-checked for data loss.
  • At no time between the disconnection date, and reconnection, was the card plugged into anything.
  • The card used in this test was a SanDisk 4GB SDHC memory card. I've owned this card for many years, and used it for various things during that time span. While I've not had any issues in the past with data on the card, the card itself does have damage to the outer plastic from repeatedly being taken out of its storage case over the years.
  • The card was stored in a clear plastic SD card case in my computer desk.
  • The data used in this test was from "/dev/urandom" on Debian 12 AMD64 XFCE.

Results:

  • Data verification was done using sha256sum for checksum comparison between the memory card, and an SHA-256 checksum made of it before. This test revealed matching checksums.

  • Data verification was done using cmp for byte-for-byte comparison between the memory card, and an exact image made of it before. This test revealed data was byte for byte identical.

sudo cmp "/dev/sdp" "sd.img" && echo $?

[sudo] password for user1:

0

Note:

  • No analyses were done of the original data to determine its suitability for this sort of test.

Hello

I am looking to get 20TB or above used drives from vendors with good reputation in UK. I came across serverpartdeals.com but it is US based. Any recommendations?
