I mean, they already are…

Ah yes, a YouTube “news” network featuring an old white guy. Totally legitimate source, very believable, 10/10, no questions.
I consistently vote in my caucus. It disgusts me because I’ve seen some REALLY wrong political plays happen there, but I still go and vote.
But seriously, there’s a large chunk of democrats who do not give two shits about people, they care about power and manipulating it to put themselves in that place of power. And they see the party system as a way to do it (sadly, they’re right).
That being said, I continue to hold my nose and vote for Dems because at least they’re not fascist. But anybody that says “if only progressives did…” has not dealt with the Democratic Party in any serious level.
“Do it for her” from Steven Universe. If you haven’t watched the series. I won’t ruin it.
Likewise, “Leaves From the Vine” from ATLA
Finally something reddit is good for: the competitive circle jerk
Or doctors who “correct” infants who are born intersex
Don’t focus on a national scale, focus more locally. Look at state legislatures. Look at mayoral and school board races.
Brigading 100% still happens. I’ve seen it here on Lemmy just in the past few months.
Also, I have absolutely banned people from coming to my house for Christmas dinner. It started as relatives that have decided that their political beliefs extend into my bedroom, and can’t seem to keep their damn mouth shut about it. But now it’s a “if you are a regular Fox News viewer you are not welcome in my house for dinner” policy because over the past several years I’ve noticed that every single person who meets that criteria has had the same issue. Could there be a person out there who is a Fox News watcher and can keep their mouth shut? Sure. But I’m not willing to risk my own mental health for the sake of “being inclusive”.
Yea, that’s the idea. I don’t care what opinion you have about the legitimacy of trans people in a sub meant for trans people to support each other. Not every sub is meant to be a place for “free debate”. In fact, there are some places where debate is not appropriate or welcome. Like you wouldn’t walk into an AA meeting and try to debate the health benefits of wine.
Especially places that are meant to be safe spaces for marginalized groups, this is really important.
It’s a common way of preventing a lot of harassment in some subs, and it’s done by a bot most of the time. For example back in the the day posting in T_D meant a ban in some of the trans subs I was in. The point was that if you’re posting in T_D, then the chances of you coming into a forum for trans folks to harass them was pretty high. It was easier and safer to just ban those folks outright before they began messing with people.
It’s because it’s really easy to take an evening off to caucus or vote if you’re retired. I have friends who are progressive who have claimed that their neoliberal boss intentionally scheduled them for caucus nights to prevent them from participating.
I caucused for Bernie in both 2016 and 2020. The Hillary supporters were gross and constantly were talking about how they could rig things so that Hillary could win even though there were CLEARLY more Sanders supporters in our precinct. When I would point out that some of what they were saying was really morally disgusting, their response was “well that’s just how the game is played, if you don’t like it then leave”. Hillary even sent out a “how to run a caucus precinct” guide that was full of misinformation. We were lucky that our precinct had 2 chairs, one a Bernie supporter that had the official guide. We ended up calling the State level officials for clarification on a bunch of stuff and they were pissed at Hillary for pulling what she did.
