I watched a few of his videos and I don't get it
I agree with you, but it's an addiction to approval. It's similar to cracking a joke and everyone laughing at it. It is sad but it's also pretty human.

I know you're joking, but I would so love if Filipinos or some other countries would switch from facebook to mastodon/lemmy. It would make this place so lively.
That's the beauty of lemmy and other open protocols, you can experience it however you like. If you prefer the stock web experience, it's there, if you prefer an alternative web experience, it's there, if you prefer an app, there are several to choose from. If you don't like any of that, you can even spend some time and make your own crazy thing.
The best way for lemmy to grow is slow and steady, eating reddit's lunch over the next few months to years. It won't happen overnight, and we don't want it to.
This is probably going to sound mean, and I promise you I don't mean it that way, but a reddit mod event sounds like a very sad place to be.
