I believe this price increase only applies to the US and Japan (where the Digital SKU is around ¥50,000 atm afaict), as far as what's been announced. UK and EU pricing remains similar to the existing one.

With a few useful keywords (you've got them), the literal first result of any search engine. 3DS hacking / custom firmware installation has been extensively documented and is quite straightforward.
WRT how small it is, this video comparing the OG and Slim PS2 could be of interest to you, just so you can see how Sony was able to make it that much smaller back then.
The company's dedication to retro authenticity goes far beyond creating desirable gaming hardware.
Sure, Analogue also caters to scalpers, to a point.
Somewhat /s, I guess?
I love my Analogue Pocket, which I've had for a little over a year, and Dock, which I've gotten maybe a week ago but has already surpassed my (fairly mild) expectations. I've also had a Super Nt for over a year and have a pre-order in for the Duo, so I tend to appreciate what Analogue comes out with, but their recent strategy with limited edition Pockets feels a bit ill-intentioned.
They had seemingly finally caught up to production issues and were able to deliver everyone's orders towards the end of August and suddenly made both regular editions of the Pocket unavailable to then "drop" limited editions a few weeks later.
Those are once again hard to get, unsurprisingly slightly more expensive than the "regular" variant and generate a significant amount of demand for very limited quantities.
I might be reading too much into it, but it feels like they're still trying to cultivate a constant feeling of FOMO and/or limited supply around the Pocket, all the while being finally able to catch up with demand (I fully understand production was not at scale compared to how much demand there was for it back in 2021/2022).
I'm back to Spider-Man Remastered, after a month or so, and I'm really enjoying it! It works really well for fairly short gaming sessions (an hour or so), which is realistically all I can get on weekdays atm.
An all-digital future isn't surprising in the slightest coming from Microsoft, although 2024 is much sooner than most would anticipate it. I guess we might see a detachable disc drive, but if there is one, it would surely not be bundled with the console.
Their business model is clearly centered around Game Pass nowadays, physical media sales must have slowed down significantly over the last few years (they also have significantly fewer limited run releases than Nintendo/Sony) and they have decided to forgo using larger size Blu-Rays to accommodate for full games on disc anyways.
As a fervent supporter of physical media (because you can get deals outside of just the one monopoly / digital store, you can buy used or you can loan/borrow games, or even get backwards compatible games that are not available digitally), this is another "slap in the face", but again I kind of expected it, sooner or later, coming from Microsoft.
Cheers! I cross-posted it there :)
Both were Japan exclusives. I figured I could either play the scalpers' game and pay a premium upfront or try to grab them later from Japanese secondhand websites, which is what I ended up doing (via a proxy).
I most certainly did not! I actually probably will keep the controller in its box as I use the Edge 99% of the time, but I'll keep the console covers on, they look too good to be kept in a box imo.
Yeah, the first game was a... surprising opener imo, but why not!
Retrogaming wise, I'm playing Parasite Eve! I'm usually not one for Halloween themed games/movies/anything either, but I've been enjoying it greatly.
