We'll see. Personally what I really want is a translucent AR display, so I can see the actual light rays of the world hitting my eyeballs combined with pixels. Of course that's mostly an unsolved engineering challenge...

No I did not. Yup, that's a much cheaper XR headset. Though Apple's offering here will have over 2x the resolution which may make a difference in productivity use-cases such as virtual monitors.

I'm intrigued by it, but I don't really understand it. The list of "magazines" appears to be randomly sorted. I guess "posts" are Fedi hashtags while "threads" are link aggregator posts..?

Self-hosting video sounds awesome, but it seems challenging if it were ever going to scale. Mastodon and Lemmy instances are already struggling hosting a social media platform. Streaming video sounds 1000x more difficult.

I knew I should've loaded up on BHAW when it was cheap!

I believe defederation is one of the best things about the Fediverse. People who say objectionable things have the right to free speech too (within reason), but I just don't want to see it or interact with them. Defederation enables peaceful coexistence in a way which could never work on a centralized social media platform.

This is more an AR (or MR) headset than a VR headset. It's not trying to compete with the Quest, it's trying to compete with other mixed reality products which are also currently quite expensive.

You're welcome. You mean well and I like these archive sites too, it's just a shame there's this weird ongoing DNS "problem"...

Wow. The ability to edit a post after I made it. How amazing.

Just realized I pay less than that for a VPS running Fediverse apps which lets me do the same thing...

Also please, I don't think we need to use archive.today for every site. That one is also a little frustrating because for some reason their nameservers return bogus IPs when accessed from certain DNS providers as well all Firefox users who use DNS-over-HTTPS :\

Yeah. And of course Counter-Strike, and Natural Selection, Sven's Coop..

Perhaps the only game where the mods, well a few of them, are more famous than the base game.
