Not quite the same, but in the UK the last time the UK Labour Party was in government in 2010, Liam Byrne, the chief secretary to the Treasury under Gordon Brown, left a note for his successor, which simply said: ‘Dear chief secretary, I’m afraid to tell you there’s no money left.’ 🙄 we're still broker.
