IMHO: looks like that Chinese language growth [mostly due pirated Windows games] obscure Linux growth (which is still there, since +2.61% is not, as per absolute value, bigger than 0.12% loss

It depended on who use that word: your average CEO ala Elon Musk or TikTok's short... totally pointless crap to catch people interest.

Nvidia, Intel, AMD? That's a bit of different story, isn't?

'fraid you got no option but take whatever spank Sony had planned for you, then.

Nobody who isn’t a niche PC gamer wants to build a PC

Yeah, Nvidia will certainly shutdown in the coming weeks, sorry to see them go under. But I guess their business is too niche for all the R&D spending clearly beyond the Sony.

(Put this /s here, just in case)

Sorry for the confusion, I mean as the value around 2nd hand owner market: which, contrary to console, is always an option for parts for next generation gaming. I know Japan is not that much in 2nd market and buy pre-owned thing: I wonder if PC gaming would encourage them into this option, since it's so much widely known thing in the PC gaming industry.

a gaming computer with the same power will run you $3-4k

Are you sure? A RX 6600 XT is about 200€.

4000 buck would about twenty RX 6600 XT: with that amount of GPU you play... Blender's render in realtime.

...also, this is something you're not supposed to do. You can "change the license" to your own work, but the work done so far (by contributors) was GPL... so, a bit messy, I guess.

IMHO: Valve is phasing off the very initial gen. of Steam Deck to focus OLED/HDR (which would benefit Linux gaming ecosystem), as SteamDeck is certainly a standard defining device for Linux gaming ecosystem.

just remove the "unb" from Funbucks and you got the original plan for Ubisoft to their customers.

There are console comparable to RX 6600 that costs 200$/€?

[–] alessandro@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago

That's not how the enforce security works. You're either capable to secure the device without removing basic functionality, or don't.

Xbox has a browser, as any iphone/ipad out of there. If the only way for Sony to keep security is cripple functionality; it doesn't mark their device as valuable at all

(additionally, with proper web browser support you can play web videogames without have to pay Sony: would you say this also apply to Sony's choice to remove web browser?)

Remember when everyone though the PS3 was insane at 599 US dollars?

The day Microsoft did smile, as finally they could see an actual chance for their xbox thing.

You sure? Last I remember the "crazy" quota was paying $999 for a monitor holder branded by a fruit (a bitten fruit, not even a whole one).

Joke aside, the most amusing thing, is that you have to pay $700 for a device attached to your TV, then if you want to check a website you have to resort on your smartphone or whatever shitty browser is integrated in your "smart" TV... because PS5 don't have web browser support!
