That doesn't seem to be the case. For example, on the day that Threads was launched there was plenty of people tagging #Threads, but it wasn't mentioned in this list.
I disagree, actually. Scrolling through the posts on my local instance, I see lots of interesting posts and witty commentary on current issues.
It's just that the trending hashtags don't seem to reflect that at all.
I generally agree with this sentiment completely, but in this case the solution is beyond what I, as a single user, can achieve.
I'm wondering whether the hashtag ranking system could be filtered and tweaked to make the topics more varied and less boring.
The evidence is fairly nondescript, though. At the very most, assuming that the rumors are true and an NDA was signed, the most likely explanation for that is that Meta didn't want details of their new product leaking out before launch.
All this conjecture and insinuation that Mastodon.World admins have done something underhand/shady is just hysterical nonsense.
Wow, that's it?
this was about as informative as u/spez's Reddit AMA about third party apps.
There is no evidence that the proposed meeting even took place or which admins were invited, let alone that attendees would be required to sign an NDA.
Stop spreading FUD based on nothing.
All that email shows evidence of is that a representative of Meta approached the server admin of fosstodon.org and proposed a sit-down. That's literally all it is.
There is no mention of 1) who else was invited, or 2) who else attended, 3) that an NDA would need to be signed, and (perhaps most importantly) 4) that the proposed discussion even happened in the first place.
Talk about jumping to conclusions.
I will not ask my fellow lemmy community members to blindly trust me on this
But you are, so ... 🤷♂️
Are you basing your claim solely on the email that kev@fosstodon.org shared, which mentioned no other mastodon server admins, or is there other evidence that you are aware of?
In addition, help out your instance admins by resizing the image if you don't need it in high resolution.
Uploading a 250Kb file rather than a 2.5MB one makes a difference when thousands of users are doing it.
Exactly. Although there is much debate over what Marx envisioned when he put forward the idea of a Communist society, it certainly didn't involve an authoritarian, single-party dictatorship where The Party oppresses the people.
Tankies are more Stalinist and Maoist apologists than actual communists.
You're right, it is.
However, I'm on a server (fosstodon.org) that has an active Local thread and plenty of users and the trending hashtags still look like this pretty much every day.
