It's interesting primarily since there has been lot of controversy surrounding the claims that widespread rape and sexual assault were carried out by Hamas during the October 7th attacks, mostly due to an incendiary article that appeared in the NYT and was widely repeated across international media.

Since the release of that article, there has been quite a bit of pushback, even from certain journalists in the NYT itself, centred around the fact that the author of the article was a young Jewish filmmaker with ties to the Israeli military who was not even a professional journalist. (You can read more about the problems with that piece here.)

In any case, there has been a lot of back and forth over whether these stories of mass rape were credible, so this lastest UN investigation helps to clarity the extent to which sexual violence may have occured.

Not all instant is bad, although the couple of brands I've found that actually taste good are not available in the US, sadly.

Urgh, Nescafe is gross. I can't abide the aftertaste.

Fun fact: there are more Christian Zionists in the US than there are Jewish Zionists.

Yep - that prediction certainly aged like milk.

Nice strawman.

What he could do, at the very least, is follow the tone already set by his VP, or even (dare I say it) threaten to pause US military support if the assault on Rafa goes ahead.

That's a yikes! from me, dawg.

To watch the Biden administration continue to pretend that they have any effect whatsoever in preventing Israel's murderous rampage is just embarrassing at this point.

I can't wait to see how they completely fail to hold Netanyahu to account this time ...

As a recovering audiophile, I can safely say the hobby is heavily based around FOMO (the nagging doubt that something, somewhere, in your audio chain is causing a loss of audio quality), and digital audio is no exception. Not only is 320kbps more than enough, even with $1000s worth of equipment, but with codecs more efficient than MP3 (especially Opus), even 128kbps can be good enough to sound identical to lossless.

If you have plenty of local storage then 16-bit FLAC is ideal, but if you are just streaming then you really don't need a lossless service except to keep the FOMO at bay.

Yep, Linux gaming has really come on leaps and bounds in the past five years. All my steam games run perfectly with Proton, and the native support for PS/Xbox controllers has been flawless.

Ah fair enough.

I don't actually know of any portable wireless speakers that also act as an external USB DAC/Speaker. Going wireless is probably going to be the easiest solution.

Case #1 - looks like the moderator of that community doesn't think the headline fits the sub. I don't get any particular sense that the reason for removal was in any way political.

Case #2 - as the moderator explained, the auto moderator on Lemmy is basically still in beta stage and is still very much a work in progress.

In both cases, it seems you got a fair explanation as to what happened to your posts. I think it's a bit premature to start making accusations of some kind of political conspiracy about this instance in general.
