You don't think there's a range between doing the bare minimum and giving your best? I don't say they let you die, or send you away. I said I wouldn't be sure they treat me with the same effort they treat someone they like (or at least don't dislike).

Do you really want a doctor treat you who despises you? Can you still trust them to do their best?
The real problem lies deeper than this.
told me that I should be able to come to work when I was able to play World of Warcraft
From your name I assume you are German. In that case your employer could suck it, even if you played on Monday. You can do whatever the fuck you want if it doesn't conflict with you getting better. So if the doctor advises to stay in bed and sleep and you run around town for fun you could rightfully get in trouble. But if you have a broken leg you might not be fit for (your particular) work but could of course still play computer games. If you are on sick leave for mental problems you could even go on vacation because that might even benefit your mental health.
Hauptsache man muss nix ändern.
Schon gar keine extremen Ausnahmen.
That's not easier than not needing a VPN in the first place.

Piracy has never been easier or safer or faster than it is now
What?! It was way easier and safer in the era of Napster, edonkey and emule. Easy discoverability and companies didn't pay any attention yet. Since then it's a cat and mouse game.
That could help, but if a file is not shared that much (yet) or not many people are online at the moment, a single peer will still share many more parts, likely ending up with having shared significant amounts.
That is essentially how bittorrent works anyway. In Germany people lost in court over this. Also portions of a copyrighted file are a problem. If they can "proof" that they got a relevant portion (more than the typical fair use seconds) you are still on the hook.
Doctors are just humans. If they have a good day (hopefully often), they go out of their way to help you. I had a doctor call me on his personal time because he cared, and looked into literature to figure something weird out. But I also was there when he had a bad day (he was sick himself and a shit ton of patients to go through) so he just gave me a sick note, quick checkup and let me go. Doctors aren't machines who work in an objective and reproducible way.
