So, does this also apply to kbin/lemmy?

If a post from lemmy.world shows up on my kbin feed and it has only 30 likes, but on lemmy.world it has 1k likes, I'll never get to experience the real "popularity" of a post?

leaving out the technical aspects of what's possible and what's not... I get your point, and you're right.

I can't use the gmail android app to login with outlook credentials.

I think we could start with an api alongside the existing one, and have it downward-compatible until everything is migrated, bit by bit.

  • tempur mattress (got them on the used market, for 20% of the cost)
  • a key organizer that looks like a swiss army knife
  • a slim wallet that also unfolds
  • a good pair of audiophile headphones
  • a dishwasher

aah, thx for the detailed explanation... So everyone doing their own thing, kinda defeats the purpose, or at least makes it harder for app developers to take care of all the different apis

also i just tried kbin.social/u/@phoronix@noc.social and it gave me a 404, knowing phoronix being a reliable tech source.

Edit: but @sometestuser works as intended

sure, but I thought ActivityPub is a common protocol they all use to allow interoperability.

Like an API, where there are users, posts, images that can be created, liked and boosted.

I.e logging in to a mastodon app would allow me to create /browse madtodon-specific posts (microblogs), and logging in to pixelfed app, would allow me to only upload/browse images, etc...

what they could potentially do is to post Ads across the fediverse, and their sales-pitch could be something along the lines "hey look, for just 20 bucks a month, your AD can be shown on 1500 other domains and not only on FB.com"

thanks, but no thanks

I use proxmox for the sole benefit of just spinning up a VM of choice without having to deal with usb-sticks, etc.

From there I just run everything with Docker containers, via Portainer.

I asked the same question recently. Apparently, they seem to have some federation issues right now, due to high server loads, etc... This is not intended and it'scon the roadmap to be fixed. At least, so I've heard
