Best Buy is partnering with McKinsey & Company on a Management Training Program.

The program is not open to white applicants. “Candidates must meet the [racial] requirements below”

“She said ‘I think she’s a lesbian like nanna Julie,'” Snow recounts, noting that the female officer had short blonde hair. “I just felt a jolt on my back… the officer had launcher herself in my home at me and Amanda. She was grabbing her.”

“She was crying and saying sorry to the police woman. That’s when I grabbed my phone and started recording.”

In terrifying footage twice-removed by TikTok, Amanda is heard screaming and crying as multiple West Yorkshire Police officers surround the cupboard she had backed herself into for safety.

“You’re going to remove her for what? Because she said the word lesbian? Her nana is a lesbian, she’s married to a woman. She’s not homophobic!”

In April, a landmark study called "Human or Not?" was launched to determine whether people could identify if they were talking to another person or an AI chatbot.

More than 2 million volunteers and 15 million conversations later, 32 percent of participants picked incorrectly.

There was also little difference in the results based on age categories. Older and younger adults both struggled at a similar level to discern who—or what—was on the other end of the conversation.

August 25 is the deadline to sign up for this class action lawsuit. Apparently a settlement has been reached. Though I don't expect to receive much if any money for a long time if ever, hopefully it will hurt Facebook, so please sign up.

  • Like most faux-populists these days, he has stellar common-man credentials: a bachelor’s degree from Harvard, a J.D. from Yale Law, hedge-fund investment partner and biotech bro, who was worth $15 million before graduating from law school. (As of April, Forbes claims he’s worth $630 million.)

  • In one of his books, he supported inheritance tax rates as high as 59 percent, which rural Iowans know less fondly as “the death tax.”

  • Though he’s now posing as God’s gift to Republicans, he’s registered as “unaffiliated” in Ohio, where he lives, and has never even voted for a Republican nationally until backing Trump in 2020.

  • Campaign finance records show him giving money to Democrats instead, including a state senate candidate in Massachusetts with long-time Obama-administration ties who’d been endorsed by conservative darling, Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

  • While chief executive of Roivant Sciences and Axovant Sciences, he signed a joint 2017 letter that was created by the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council calling for “driving diversity and inclusion” in the industry.

They’re essentially holding a gun to our head and saying, “Nice little website you’ve got there. It’d be a shame if anything happened to it.”

They’re leaving us with two choices: stop writing about these important topics, or keep on writing about them and lose money.

They think squeezing us financially is how they’ll finally silence us.

The Left doesn’t have good arguments on these topics, so they’re using the immense power they hold over the digital ad industry to shut us up.

X, formerly known as Twitter, was fined $350,000 because it delayed producing the subpoenaed records.

The search warrant was so secret that Trump didn’t even know Jack Smith issued a subpoena for the records.

Biden’s corrupt Justice Department obtained a nondisclosure order that prohibited X from informing Trump about Jack Smith’s subpoena.

Not only is Jack Smith using every dirty trick to use secret gag orders, he is also working to silence Trump with another type of gag order so the former president cannot defend himself publicly from unprecendented abuse by Biden’s DOJ.

"You have to ask yourself why your eyes are being scanned and information gathered. What does it mean and what will it mean to you and your offspring?"

Shame Trump did not fire all those corrupt attorneys working at the DOJ and FBI.

Not sure why. Lemmy used to have a predefined list of banned words but I thought they got rig of it.

But he promised to lock Hillary up and . . .

Never mind, not the best example of Trump keeping his promises.

It has been a rocky road upgrading from the stable Lemmy 17,4 to the various 18.x upgrades.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

But the V18.3 upgrade competed yesterday looks like it is a definite return to stability.

The server stats look good. I have put the system through its paces this morning and all seem to have performed well.

Enjoy.

CPU usage is now averaging less then 20% with spikes to 45%

We already sit behind the Akami DDOS prevention system. I do not think cloudflare would be any more effective.

When I look at the server - I am seeing the same behavior I saw when the big Lemmy instances started upgrading to v18. And these recent problems started when they started upgrading to release candidates for v18.3 - So I think this is a Lemmy federation problem not DDOS attacks.

We have plenty of bandwidth - do not even coming close to using it all. When we have these problems I am seeing spikes in CPU usage (normally 10% but spikes to 150% when we see these issues) and Disk I/O.

We plan upgrading the version of Lemmy we are running this weekend to see if that makes a difference.
