they were under $1 a dozen then, they're still about $3 here--last i noticed the price anyway.

they're great if you do more than one thing at a time or need many programs open at the same time. anyone who regularly 'alt-tabs' to find or switch to a different window that they cannot currently see could benefit from another screen.
one wide or ultra wide display may not work as well, as some programs simply aren't made with that aspect ratio in mind. we have one program here that insists upon being in a maximized window--always. a lot of wasted space, even on a 16:9. that user has two 5:4 instead and loves that setup.
malicious qr codes have always been around. i remember the local news reports of them plastered to store directories at the mall. ya, that long ago.
i run with scripts disabled by default. it gets annoying at times, but most sites and pages i go to work fine. a few are true 'apps' and are whitelisted. random sites that don't work i just search for an alternative source if i really want to read it. i have separate browser installs with fewer restrictions that i use specifically for certain things (like webmail or the little online shopping i do).
the few web sites that i am responsible for... all work without scripts. many of the visitors i care about have shitty internet, so i don't want massive js or css bundles in there or tons of unoptimized graphics or media.
website wouldn't need to embed any JS code.
other than the 20 trackers and ad scripts.
forced to work in small classrooms with sniffling sick kids legally required to attend would put some teachers' illnesses under workers' comp?
jared/ivanka and tom brady live there too. surprised there isn't a multi-billion dollar federal grift involved yet.
i haven't had mine for over a decade, but tivo completely ruined ordinary 'tv' for me. it finished the job the vcr started back in the 80s, aided by greedy networks greatly increasing ad time per hour over the last few decades (10 min per hour was the norm when i was a kid--now it's 20+)
more than half the households in my county do not have any high-speed wireline service available to them.
i don't think it's 'legally required' but it is bound to be on documentation you provide to prove eligibility to work. may also be needed for one or more types of background checks an employer may require.
my electric bill actually went down a little. but only because the thermostat is now set to 55 (heat)-80F (ac) instead of 64-76F, i quit using the oven so much, the 'homelab' is off (was 24/7, but a ulv soc, so not much power draw), and the tv hasn't been on in almost two years.
