There we go! The community is yours!

I don't drive, so a full tank of petrol wouldn't be of much use to me.

Yep, it's absolutely something we'd consider once database migration becomes possible

The guy is defending a bigoted opinion. End of story.

Again, if you "have an opinion about transgender people" that involves taking away their rights, or putting them in harms way and that prioritises the needs of everyone else first, and the needs of trans people last, if at all, then you have a bigoted opinion. It's a universal statement.

The person you were replying to described Nutomics position as "It's hard for me to imagine a more agreeable and reasonable statement." And as a reminder, Nutomics post was a statement complaining about pride flags on public buildings, calling transgender women "men" and stating that trans folk are a conspiracy/distraction pushed by the bourgeoisie, despite rich conservatives being largely responsible for the wave of trans hatred we're currently experiencing.

That is pure transphobia.

If that starts happening, we will defederate. But he doesn't seem to be standing in the way of the rest of the instance staff from dealing with it as far as I can tell.

[–] ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 3 months ago

From my perspective, it's mostly watching reports that come in. They're not very common, only a couple of a month. I action any reports that break instance rules, but if people post stuff that doesn't break an instance rule, but might still be against the community rules, that's where community mods come in.

Community mods also set the community rules and vision for what it's about.

Nutomic was banned from this instance approximately 9 months ago when I first become aware of his stance. However, it's not something I plan on defederating over unless it becomes clear that the instance as a whole is not acting on transphobic content or unless it becomes clear that the community strongly believes that we should defederate.

I wasn't talking about you, I was talking in general, and the specific context was the person earlier in this discussion, who you explicitly stated is not a bigot.

Open world games don't hold me, because ironically, they tend to feel too small. When you can walk from one side of the setting to the other in real time, it all feels small.

The expression on that second birds face is meme worthy!

New Birdnet-Pi (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Today, I set up my new Birdnet-Pi,a raspberry Pi, running an app that detects and identifies birds by their calls. This is my first half day of recording birds.

Image description: A screenshot of the Birdnet Pi web interface. At the top, it shows a breakdown of birds from that day, sorted by species and time. In order of total number of occurrences, the birds listed are Torresian Crow, Australasian Figbird, Noisy Miner, Barn Owl, Rainbow Lorikeet and Blue-faced Honeyeater. Beneath the list of birds, it shows a waveform graphic for the audio of the latest bird call identitied by the system. In this instance, a Torresian Crow.

I'm not from Sydney, but I took this photo when I was there this weekend gone, and thought that I'd share it

I'm growing more and more impressed with its capabilities the more I use it! Wrapping my head around its approach to masking, and its "scene referred pipeline" took some time, but now that I'm getting the hang of it, I think I can say I genuinely prefer it to Lightroom.

Combined with digiKam, which is excellent for photo collection management, I'm a very happy photographer :)
