She makes money from the popularity of her IP, whether or not she makes money from any individual title. The success of that game makes her money, because it tells studios that it is profitable to make Potter content, and that will make her money.

So no, do not purchase her stuff, because she will explicitly use her profits from her IP to actively target and hurt trans folk.

This isn't hypothetical. It's not multiple steps removed. It's not "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism". This is someone who is explicitly using her money to hurt vulnerable people, so you do not give her more money or encourage others to.

Ever.

Ok, fixed. Our spam protection was interfering with it.

[–] ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 months ago

Thanks. Kaity will look in to it and see what's going on

A couple of questions. If I was trying to keep a consistent workspace to build a community around, would it be persistent after the host logs off, and are their tools to protect it from trolls etc who discover it a workspace?

Yeah, it's extra work, and doesn't change the infuriating aspect of enshitification, but it's an option if you absolutely do not want to sign in to the app

It was the banner image on a news article about a gull that picked up a trans flag at pride

For what it's worth, you can generally record a GPS tracking in another app or on another device and then use your photo editing software to add the coordinates to the photos after the fact.

Thank you! I appreciate the work you've put in to this!

Sweetness is the last thing I want in coffee! Being Australian, I'm quite familiar with milk. That's what our entire cafe culture is centred around

I've got an image noise reduction app that I simply can't get working under linux, and that I can't find an equivalent tool for under linux.

I've tried VMs and wine and none of them work. My web searches haven't encountered anyone that can make it work either.

So, I'm at the point where I may need to boot in to windows to do my noise reduction. However, I would really love to be able to access my existing linux install via a VM or the like when I do so, so that I can access my daily driver software (which is all linux) whilst I'm in windows.

Is such a thing possible?

I rode the new bike out off road, through grass tussocks and all sorts of bumps to get this viewpoint!

New camera in hand, we made a deal with some local gulls. We provide the chips if they pose for us so I can get some photos!

And didn't they oblige!

This fine gull is a Silver Gull (not a Herring Gull) from Australia, and you'll be pleased to know, the chip was caught!

Nicolás Mihanovich, an abandoned cruise ship sits moored on the bank of Rio Iguazú, Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, at the apex of the borders between Argentina, Paraguay and Brasil.

It was originally designed as a luxury ferry between Argentina and Uruguay, but plans were made to turn it in to a floating Casino. The plans stalled, and now the ship sits, largely abandoned
