How does this affect the other American Honda manufacturing locations in Canada or Mexico? There are many Hondas produced in the factories there: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_of_Canada_Manufacturing and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_de_M%C3%A9xico

As others have said, it isn't clear what the 'milestone' is, but:

BYD is now expected to begin producing solid-state batteries in 2027 in limited batches ... The first two years will serve as a demo phase with limited production. Toward the end of the decade, the company expects to begin mass production as the new batteries are adopted at scale.

No live video, but photos of the Stones playing at the El Mocambo with the palm tree images in the background along with the audio from that night of them playing Dance Little Sister. Amazing!

Billed as 'The Cockroaches' opening for the Canadian band April Wine, this secret gig was recorded and some songs appeared on their Love you Live album, and the whole recoding was released in 2022 as "El Mocambo 1977". This is also the concert where Margaret Trudeau, wife of the Prime Minister, was famously photographed partying with the band.

I assumed they were already doing this, but maybe they don't want to compete with themselves and push prices even lower? The Leapmotor B10 midsized SUV seems like the sweet-spot, based on reviews from Australia, anyway, like: https://wholemap.com/cars/video/leapmotor-b10-small-suv-2026-driven

Would theLeapmotor B10 compete with the Fiat 500X? Or maybe the 600e?

Canadian here - we're removing tariffs on Chinese manufactured cars, so might be getting some BYD vehicles - is the new 2026 BYD Seal four door sedan really a replacement for the Tesla 3? It looks cool, anyway: https://wholemap.com/cars/video/byd-seal-2026-compared-to-teslas-model3

Well put, I agree. For me it is inexpensive little 'city cars' that I'd like to see more of, like the BYD Dolphin Surf hatchback.

Tough to get through that page with so many ads, but it didn't seem to answer an important distinction:

Does this mean "Canadians are willing to buy cars manufactured in China by companies that already operate in Canada, like Volvo / Polestar, Mini, and GM."

Or does it mean "Canadians are willing to buy cars by Chinese companies that don't yet have a footprint in Canada yet, like BYD or Chery or Zeekr."

Well, I've got bad news then, as Chinese-made vehicles now make up nearly 1 in 5 cars sold in Mexico and includes brands like BYD, Changan and MG as well as cars manufactured in China by Ford and General Motors.

As much as I like driving, I agree 100% that I'd prefer taking away a lane for public transit priority, or requiring all new highway development include space for potential train lines.

That is an excellent link, something we all need to consider with any major purchase. Not to excuse Chinese manufacturers, but interesting to consider what goes into our 'European' or 'North American' cars, too:

At least 30 major car manufacturers are potentially implicated – including heavyweights in electric vehicles like Tesla and BYD. Even supply chains for quintessentially European brands are tainted. From touchscreens to engines, car parts made by coerced workers in Hubei, Shandong and other manufacturing hubs across China have ended up in some of the world’s most famous car brands: Mercedes, BMW, Volvo and Citroen.

That is more than reasonable! Hopefully BYD etc.. will learn from their mistakes in Australia - and provide better after-sales-service here in Canada. The article says they've sold 85,000 vehicles in Australia, so Canada won't be that big a market in the first few years though.

The top of my list is the 2026 BYD Seal - AWD version which looks the most interesting to me: https://wholemap.com/cars/video/byd-seal-2026-compared-to-teslas-model3

I understand we need to wait and see about pricing and warranties and the availability of service centres here in Canada, not to mention better understanding of quality issues and of course environmental and human rights issues, but...

Which potential Chinese cars interest you the most to drive here in Canada? Personally I'm tired of soulless cookie-cutter SUV/CUVs and am far more interested in the 4 door coupes and smaller city-cars. Think downtown Montreal cars with personality rather than suburban Alberta parking lots in places like Sherwood Park outside big-box stores.

Watching people do the Indepen-Dance is never pretty. Never.

If you want to feel old, check out the Hip from 31 years ago tonight! Part of their Day for Night tour. This YouTube video came from a bootleg VHS tape they bought downtown a few weeks after the show. Scroll to the bottom to see the amazing setlist that night.

These little late 1960's Honda S800 convertibles look wonderful, has anyone seen one driving around in America? I realize the parts are really hard to find, but this car would be a head-turner here.
