Said by individual who I would bet €100 couldn’t explain even the basics of how PRC government or democratic process is structured

Parenti is such an incredible speaker and thinker, its the combination of the two skills which make his lectures so visceral for me.

Whoever put together the Parenti collection podcasts that are on Spotify if you are out there thanks so much, cause I’ve read many of his books but ive been exposed to his lectures by audio lately and they are electric

Canada/US media just nakedly calls out the fact that the uprising is a threat to western interests in the region and expects the reader to just take as a given that something must be done to protect them, which most agree with I assume.

Then there is the whole racist use of the word “junta”, which is blatantly only used to describe uprisings in non white countries.

The implication that this is something anyone should care about or even take notice of seems astoundingly racist

I still think all the time about your description of baltic states + poland as “the stupidity belt”, just so so succinct

Sounds like my father honestly

For a couple of years now I have been working at a shop in a very, very impoverished and rough part of my city that is predominately occupied by low income minorities. I hope this doesn’t come off condescending but it took me a while to realize that a not insignificant number of our customers struggled to read the menu and price, info ect about products we had. I feel bad even for being a bit frustrated in the past by this, and we do our best to accommodate everyone and make them feel welcomed now I like to think anyway. But this is certainly a widespread issue that is rarely discussed or understood especially by those who reside only in wealthier areas or what not.

I really enjoyed the Barbie movie, it was thought provoking without being preachy or trying to drive a particular narrative. It was also funny, and sad, and overall fun to watch with great costume and set design. Probably will go see it again if its still in theaters at the end of the month honestly

I much prefer your way of looking at it !

On holiday but finding it tough to relax, thinking too much about what I need to get done with the rest of this year smh

Its never a good sign when Victoria Nuland is in your country

You’re 100% right, its ridiculous and you have articulated what I was thinking far better than I could. I work for a second job at a place that sells these disposable vapes and like I’m guilty of indulging too ofc but it blows my mind how many of these we sell. And it all ends up in the trash. Some people are buying one every other day, they should probably be banned honestly. Its an opulent level of waste
