That complete family seems to have a bit of an issue. That one kid seems to try getting into the fight by bumping the door into them repeatedly - and their language is not very pretty.

Not really much. Now if my wife would get the dump the story might be a bit different.

Pretty much all of the EU, at least - country specific regulations vary, but the basic framework is based on EU regulations.

"Salaried worker" over here means just that you're being paid for fixed, regular working hours - typically something like 37.5 or 40 hours per week. Anything on top of that is overtime, which needs to be compensated either in time off, or paid out.

On call rules also vary a lot by country, but typical it's something like being paid 20-25% of your regular hourly wage while on call, with overtime pay when you're taking a call.

51% support slower employee response time outside of work hours

Uh, what? That does not compute. Either it's work, or it is not work (and I don't respond to anything, and don't get contacted in the first place)

I hate the marketplace thing, and the harder it became to filter out third parties the more I ordered outside of amazon.

I came to amazon back then because it was one seller offering most I cared about, and a single contact for everything. More and more stuff is now only available via 3rd parties - and with that I can just order stuff bypassing amazon.

Github is pretty annoying nowadays - and pretty much the only reason I haven't left for my own stuff is because going to a different platform will probably see me in the same situation in a few years again.

I still have my self hosted git instances around, and everything is pushed to there plus github - but github is where issues get created and pull requests come in as obviously nobody wants to make yet another account. That might be able to solve just that.

more recently, tiling.

The author seems to have a different definition of "recently" than I do (have been using tiling window managers for over 2 decades now).

If a window wants to be maximized, instead of fitting in a tile, it will move to its own workspace.

So pretty much "out of the users view", which seems to be one of the main things they're complaining about.

Overall just reads like a shitty mash of tiling and non tiling concepts, which you already can get better on a modern dynamic tiling window manager.

Feel sorry for owners but that is the price of being cool.

How often do we need to repeat that cycle of "Product needlessly locked in becomes useless because manufacturer goes bust" before people are surprised that it happens?

I've been recommending not to buy locked in shit for pretty much two decades now, and I'm still considered a nutjob for doing so. Only thing I have left for people stupid enough to buy into something like that is schadenfreude.
