IBM Model M clone

Want to try with an original?

Also, surprising you kept the wife, not the keyboard.

I switched from an IBM M13 to a Tex Shinobi with box navy a few months ago. It is not as good as buckling spring, but good enough - and the more compact keyboard, full programmability and the better trackpoint make up for it.

I initially tried Cherry MX Blues, but they're horrible. Never understood the Cherry hype in the 90s, and still don't understand it now.

I recently spent about two weeks trying to figure out why an intercontinental connection between two of our sites was broken. Not really my job, I just care about application level, but the network guys were beyond useless.

In the end I had the problem isolated to a specific network segment in India, which made them look at the right system and fix things. The reason? "We put up a firewall the day your problems started which blocks everything, if we allow your connection it works".

The interesting bit here is if and how that'll allow non-whatsapp users to be added to whatsapp group chats. 1:1 communication already works outside of whatsapp (worst case via SMS), but they control those group chats.

You meant to say "a competent human", which a lot of programmers are not.

While I'd expect this to be of rather low quality I'd bet money on having seen worse projects done by actual humans in the last 25 years.

And I thought that'll be about Patrick Stewart.

They nowadays also have a paddle boat going to Korkeasaari (the 'Vispilä'). Haven't noticed it for a while as we usually just went via Mustikkamaa - but few weeks ago I offered the kids the option of going by boat instead.

Bourne shell is orders of magnitude worse clusterf*ck than JavaScript, yet it's rarely criticized.

Both have their place. Bourne shell scripts are great as a container for connecting the various tools you have around - and for that kind of relatively simple script is way easier to use than something like Powershell. If you use it for something more complex you're probably an idiot.

Same with Javascript - if you need to annoy someone with popups on a website, or have something dance around in the window it's a great language. If you use it for something else you're probably also an idiot.

That's probably the "Vellamo" from Rhea Lines.

That's been a youtube trend for a while now. Most 10-20 minute videos should not have been longer than 2-5 minutes. It caused me to massively reduce the time I spend on youtube - and for me to watch a video longer than 5 minutes from somebody I don't know it needs to be about a very interesting topic and a description hinting at it not being just filler yet again.

I write code, indentation is something that the editor just does automatically. If I want to change indent settings I just mark the complete buffer, press tab, and magic happens.

I've been using python for various stuff for a few years now as well, and the indent thing still annoys me.

Not the best name, a networked terminal based netris exists since the 90s already: https://salsa.debian.org/rhonda/netris
