Yeah, had the same issue with my ISP, but at least they switched me back to ipv4 after a support call. Didn't want to pay extra for the privilege of not being reachable from the outside anymore.

I'm for the opt-out. I am aware of the fact that anyone who has looked into the subject knows that it's easy to get that info, but there's a difference between "I need to actually put a small amount of effort into it" vs. "I just copy the URL". If someone wants to look it up and jumps through the hoops, that's fine by me, but it shouldn't be an everyday thing.

I personally vote on nearly every post and comment i read, and even tho i don't want to push any agenda or discriminate any user, someone who i perceive as a bad actor or who regularly comments stuff that screams "i need to touch grass" might construe (wrongly) that i target them. Tbh, most of the time i don't look at the username when voting.

(but it is pretty interesting that i have submitted around 71000 votes since the API reddit exodus lol)

I loved it and played against my little brother on one keyboard constantly, that was fun!

Too bad that the follow-up game went through developer hell, took ages and looked and played like shit :-(

I fully agree, this is a pragmatic gift if you kept your discourse about sexual topics open with your child from the beginning. I would've gone for a gift card so they can choose themselves in privacy, but it's fine either way.

For prudish families who learnt of this gift this would be gossip material for the next year tho. So many puritans in the US, the neighbors might be the biggest issue, so i would've kept it on the down low.

I wanna see the chaos too!

Someone should get a fog machine so visibility in the packed office drops to zero, and hand out free vuvuzelas at the entrance.

If the telemetry is opt-in with a dialog window at first boot explaining why developers need telemetry, i don't see the problem. It's the difference between data freely given to help improve the system vs. data taken without consent to make you a better advertisement target.

edit: and i am pretty sure that the average FOSS-dev has way better ethics than the average microsoft data broker.

I can understand the emotional impulse, but i would change it to "active pedophiles". They can't really choose what arouses them, but they can choose not to act on those impulses - that is what counts. This distinction is important, because i would very much prefer if inactive pedophiles (who probably beat themselves up constantly, leading to emotional instability, depression and therefore a higher risk of becoming active) had easy access to ressources to help them stay inactive like therapy or the equivalent to Narcotics Anonymous.

you put it in the retractable cup holder, of course.

Hi, i've searched high and low for a solution to this issue and can't pin it down.

PC boots normal, i land in SDDM, i put in my passwort. screen goes black for a few seconds, and then i'm back at the login manager again. if i switch to the shell, i can login without issue and using startplasma-wayland, i get my desktop and everything is fine including video and gaming, so it's probably not nvidia-driver related.

i can't really find any issues in the logfiles, so it's probably a configuration issue. i already did a distro-sync and the system is updated fully.

has anyone a tip for me?

The desktop background is animated with a wallpaper engine plugin, showing a cyberpunk city with the silhouettes of a few people rummaging through a giant heap of tech scraps, with one figure standing on top and looking into the bright city lights. Light fog is moving over the scene while it rains.

Seedbox: how to start? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) by a_wild_mimic_appears@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Hi people! I have been pirating for myself for over 30 years now, and with the ever growing size of warez and the laughable upstream limit my ISP has, i have come to the point where it's not practical to maintain a 1:1 ratio for all torrents anymore - my active torrent list keeps growing beyond practical limits, and i'm someone who wants to keep sharing things for the people after me, esp. torrents with low amounts of seeds.

I'm pretty sure that i know more than i think i do, but i would be happy about a few pointers to get started with a seedbox. i have beginner linux skills, advanced user skills, and not shy of reading manuals on how to get things to work. i have not tinkered with docker much yet, but i'm willing to learn.

Edit: From what i've learned and seen i tend towards an dedicated server since i might want to host other services for myself too, so suggestions for what hoster to look at are welcome!

Hi, i didn't find anything using the search, so i just wanted to know if any issues are known causing those error messages, which need a few reloads to resolve; additionally, voting on an post often takes 2, sometimes 5 or more tries.

i already tried:

  • logged in/out
  • with my VPN(Mullvad, on by default) and without
  • Firefox / Vivaldi / Edge
  • wired / wireless

and before i get into the weeds with the abyssmal support of my ISP i wanted to know if any of you have encountered the same issues.
