the "I'm going to move to the country and grow my own food" crowd

If this statement appeals to you (it does to me) it might mean you need to find more hobbies that keep you outdoors. (I have and it's great!)

My department at work has made what I’m just now naming A Deal With The Penguin.

We pretty much don’t get IT support, but it’s because we can run Linux!

Things like broken hardware or locked out M360-AD accounts are another matter of course. But come to think of it, the front desk admin ordered me a replacement part once, and we have a dedicated website for resetting and changing your password. So other than initial onboarding years ago I don’t think I’ve used them at all. lol.

He’s starting to look like the good old Iraqi Information Minister in these photos. Good.

This is why we need to be teaching kids about the importance of high quality evidence and how to find it.

Right now we’re on the hunches and bible quotes track.

I’m not sure they’re lying as long as they actually think they are christians but are just wrong about it in your eyes.

There are definitely millions of people who “follow” the teachings (they listen when somebody feeds them a tracking) even though they don’t implement them in real life.

Yep, because the feature is unnecessary when the updates are lightning fast and unobtrusive, but automatically changing things can cause issues too.

If a public figure dies and some people have good things and bad things to say about them, that is just life.

If a public figure dies and a significant and diverse segment of the population want to dance on their grave and fight over who gets to celebrate their death the most, then that sounds like something of historical significance to me.

Agreed. There are other options, but I as a beginner started with kdenlive (something looked right about it, I guess) and I really like.

AND ADD THE OPTION TO REPLACE SPACEBAR HEATING!

Isn't it kind of the opposite though? The tendency towards increasing entropy kind of powers the stuff that lets us exist.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 5 points 2 weeks ago

Absolutely. It is a critical mechanism by which our culture encourages poor people to be angry at other poor people that they don't have more instead of at the people with ALL THE STUFF.

Well that is still exploitation, just nicer exploitation.

But, being nice and even slightly generous while exploiting your employees is how you get them to stick around at best and how you get them to not rise up en masse and drag you and your friends down main street until the screaming stops.
