Being left leaning doesn't mean you don't like cops, or think that police aren't an important job. That's a bit of propaganda that has been used to further divide the left and right. I know plenty of cops who are very left leaning, and become cops purely to help people with social injustice.
I've been on hexbear too long, I had forgotten that to most westoids "left" means liberal.

I honestly can't fathom a nation being dumber than America. Maybe that's my American exceptionalism talking but we really are dumb.
I don't know if I buy the geography take, the European plain is fairly wide open from France to the Caucuses (excluding the Alps basically). From what I've read Europe rushing military tech was because they didn't have valuable enough goods to trade, so they had to use violence to open up markets for them.
