Direct action + electioneering is a viable means for a socialist party to take power. The only trouble is in the US the electioneering always takes precedence and there are structural mean to encourage that.

He's got investments in Panera, he's not going to associate their poison lemonade with his political opponent.

Okay I admit I got that from a Tony Hawk documentary. And I think that when was when he was like 14 so that's probably before his growth spurt.
That's why I only listen to 70s and 80s funk and soul. Nobody knows who Tower of Power is so they can't make fun of you for liking them.
I mean Tony was doing some genuinely novel and cool things. I'm not surprised he's a California fail son, but he was flipping and spinning in a way that was new to the sport. All these other dudes had long limbs and they'd reach down and grab their boards mid air. Tony was not a tall guy so he learned to tuck himself up in a ball. Genuinely impressed the old heads.
Name recognition is all Biden had in 2020 and it's all he has now. Obama was an incredibly popular candidate and activated a lot of non voters (I don't have data on this). Biden got crowned because he had that Obama sheen still. Now he has the "beat Trump" clout.
