The absolute nicest interpretation I have for this is that Trump knew what Epstein did and was upset that he'd recruit girls at his club. But that means he knew and didn't care before that. And didn't say anything after.

That it's becoming toothless now only through extreme measures isn't a flaw in the structure. Everything solidly in the executive is either as bad or worse. And this after being one of the most effective pro little guy organizations in government, including through the first Trump administration.
