Shinobi Vs Dragon ninja was and is an absolute masterpiece. Sadly I don't want to listen to it any more as Ian has ruined any joy I could get out of listening to it since the news of his abhorrent dealings came out.

Thanks for sharing that barely coherent rant. I'm now both 3 minutes older and I probably lost some brain cells trying to process his nonsense. Who reads this and thinks "Yeah, this guy's got a handle on reality and some good ideas."? It's rage bait for people who are already angry at society.

That game concept still has so much potential, I'm kind of bummed they're focusing on Alan Wake again first. Let's hope they do give us a sequel/prequel at some point.

Thanks for reminding me of how good David Wong used to be at capturing popular thought and placing you into a certain perspective. I might not agree with some of the generalizations of that article, but it does help understand their perspective.

Thanks for the tip, that app works great. I've long been annoyed with websites that throw up arbitrary download limits and such, and this works like a charm.

Yeah, it feels like an intentional vagueness the employer can use to arbitrarily and unilaterally decide what constitutes work. It gives off an unpleasant hint of negotiating in bad faith.

I'm not sure this is done with as malicious and conscious intent as your comment seems to suggest though. The Cons are seeing their voter base go hard right into MAGA land, and they know they need to follow to remain being electable. It's pandering to their base that led to the Republicans to end up with nutjobs that make Sarah Palin look moderate, and it's that same pandering the led to Daniel Smith making it to (and holding onto) office. And this voter base shift is also affecting the Liberals - the disillusioned former Conservative voters that didn't jump aboard the choo-choo train to wackoland still demand their voice be heard. So Liberal politicians will have to make more changes to their stances to reach out to them, resulting in a gradual shift right for them as well.

I can both attest that this works, and that it sucks when you move and there aren't any around you anymore.

This was my exact point from earlier - most cars that can tow a bunch of stuff in Europe or Australia simply don't get tow ratings here at all. And yes, manufacturers will void your waranty of you do tow anything. It's infuriating.

[–] ZC3rr0r@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

My bad, that was a typo - I mean our tow rating. Most vehicles (except for trucks) don't list the tow rating with a brake controller installed and the only way to get one is to have your vehicle rated and tested individually.

That's actually the most reasonable explanation I've seen so far, and it helps explain a bunch (one small correction: most states have a towing speed limit of either 55 or 65 mph, so just about the same or slower than in Europe. Canada is even worse with most provinces limiting highway towing speed to 80-90kmh). That said, it still doesn't make any sense that our tow rating does not take into account the presence of a brake controller (that is to say, the stated towing capacity does not list braked and unbraked separately in most cars except trucks).

I still find it frustrating to see the exact same vehicles get significantly different tow ratings here vs Europe.

The other day the dealer tried to warn not to tow my utility trailer with my car as it would hurt the transmission (trailer was empty by the way). I pulled up an article from the UK where it was in the top three of best towing cars for this year.

Dealer looked at me like his brain needed to reboot, after which he told me the cars in Europe must be built differently or get different transmissions and left it at that.

It's truly baffling that manufacturers here hold that towing capacity hostage for arbitrary reasons.
