I cannot stress enough how much it is the year 260 CE

Worse, the US was actually like this once before. The Articles of Confederation de facto gave individual states the ability to set their own foreign policy agendas independent of one another. It was a complete disaster, and one can hope that the second time around will be no different. The breakdown of federal authority would be ugly and dangerous for many of us in this country, but it's ultimately what we as leftists within the imperial core should be hoping for.

Well how can I say no to that? Thanks man, I'll quit sleeping on it. Definitely gonna catch it on sale if I can though, I've been out of work for a minute lol

You could probably emulate the older MGS games. They still hold up pretty well.

True, though while I've got nothing against playing games with dated graphics, that control scheme is something else entirely lol. Granted, I've never played any of the MGS games on PC, and my sole experience with the series beyond Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain has been the MGS2 Xbox port.

Modern by recent-ish releases? Have you played the newer Hitman game (I think it's renamed World of Assassination now), the mimimi isometric stealth games (eg Shadow Tactics), or the Dishonored games?

I'll confess that I haven't, but I'm probably missing out there too. I've always been slow to try new games (thanks ADHD/ASD/whatever on Earth is up with me), but I've been better about that these last few years. Might should give some of these a try. Appreciate the recommendations in any case!

Edit: I should specify that by "modern" I mean games set in the modern day with modern tech (sorry Thief, I'll try you eventually.) But I suppose I also mean it in the sense of recent-ish releases

I hope it's good. I only had an Xbox as a kid, so I never got to play MGS3 (and I was too into Chaos Theory to play other stealth games anyway.) But Splinter Cell hasn't had a new entry in a decade, and MGS3 is a classic that I definitely feel I missed out on. Lacking any other games to scratch the modern stealth itch, I really, really hope this doesn't turn out to be shit.

I was in a theater once with a woman who brought her toddler into a horror movie, and when the kid predictably started crying, she pulled out her phone and put on baby shark at damn near full volume for them. Some people do need to be less tightaased, but some people also genuinely don't know how to act in public anymore.

Aw man, Black, that takes me back. Does anybody else remember how the original Xbox was able to rip and store music from CDs? For whatever reason, Black allowed you to play your own music in game, and so my brother and I both have fond memories of blasting dudes with Glocks and Uzis to 50 Cent and pre-Relapse Eminem. Pure, concentrated aughts right there

Yes yes, you're very clever for having basic rhetorical awareness. Doesn't count for much when that's literally true, as it is in Israel's case. The vast majority of Israeli civilians are likely not potential combatants, and I'm sure most of them weren't even combat specialists during their compulsory service. But the point stands, Israel does maintain a policy of compulsory enlistment, which necessarily shapes their peoples' relationship to their government and their complicity in its crimes. You can't just write that off and refuse to reckon with it.

Would you happen to remember which episode?

Hard to tell with such adept liars, but Evrart's admission (if you want to take it as such) to Harry that his ultimate goal is to take everything from the capitalists of Revachol, always struck me as at least partially sincere.

Supposing that they are genuine socialists, that isn't going to automatically make them nice men. Quite the opposite, most major historical figures weren't nice people. Even heroes like Lenin and Stalin had hands that were far from clean; the Tiflis bank robbery is just one example of the kind of tactics they were known to resort to. I've heard the term "gangster socialism" used to facetiously describe the Bolsheviks' early activities. If you believe the Claires are true comrades, then they're also undoubtedly practicioners of gangster socialism par excellence.

Matt was always my favorite Chapo, I hope he'll be alright. It'd be awful for anything to happen to him, especially for his wife and his kid.

They shouldn't go anywhere with it. I'd hate to see nuDoom become another franchise zombie.

Much appreciated. I could do with more specificity the next time I have to make this argument lol
