The best game of all time: dungeon crawl stone soup. Open source dungeon crawler that has been developed for 20 years. It is free and you can play in your browser. And since deaths are permanent, it is an easy game to walk away from since game sessions tend to be short (because it is easy to die).
Another classic is Dwarf Fortress.
I realize this is from months ago, but years ago I listened to the history of Rome while it was being created. After it was done I was still wanting more Rome history and I found 12 Byzantine Rulers. Great show that summarizes the eastern empire well.
Some days it is more though. Which is horrific.
