A cow can pasture on marginal soils that are not well suited to other crops. While I agree that the vast majority of current meat production and especially feedlots and other Concentrated Animal Feed Operations ard a large waste of resources, there is SOME space for meat production, and it CAN be better to have a small baseline amount of pastured meat than to eat exclusively vegan.

That's the thing about allowing democracy to decide what is subsidized: Everyone votes for the way things currently are, so the biggest employers and most profitable firms keep getting bigger, while the genuine startups and experimental new things are screwed over because very few people currently make a living off of them.
FuckCars is not about BEING carfree, it's about realizing that you're FORCED to have a car, to pay $10,000 per year to own that car, to breathe in the pollution from the roads, to risk your life on the road, and how bad that sucks.
There are so, so many advantages for so many people when you remove the need to commute, but because we're a gerontocracy and the old bastards running the place don't like computers, we're all stuck in hours of traffic everyday, poisoning ourselves and the planet for no good reason.
They are kinda starting to get there. Koodo, Bell, and Telus offer Call Control, which does that "please press [random number] to connect" thing, and is pretty good at screening spam for now.
It's probably damped by how absolutely dogshit the mobile web and official app versions are.
