i've been getting into small talk lately. having acquaintances is nice. i'm convinced that there's two halves of people who have a vendetta towards it: NDs who have legitimate grievances with the weird maze of social queues it can turn into, and STEMlords who get really really mad that you're not optimizing communication/time
