Thankfully I managed to avoid the worst of that sort of thing through a combination of decent history teachers, growing up in a fairly left sympathetic environment and, I'm slightly embarrassed to admit, Call of Duty single player campaigns where you play the Soviets (heavily propagandaised though those were in their own way).
