Burn the clothes. Only solution.

Not to mention that any problems caused by green bubble lack of compatibility are Apple's fault, not Android's.

May I ask if there will be a way to disable de NSFW blur?

[โ€“] Wander@yiffit.net 2 points 2 years ago

New instances would have a lower voting weight by default.

[โ€“] Wander@yiffit.net 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

No need to make all federation under a whitelist. It's enough to ignore votes from suspicious instances or reduce their weight.

[โ€“] Wander@yiffit.net 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This. It's only a matter of time until we can automatically detected vote manipulation. Furthermore, there's a possibility that in future versions we can decrease the weight of votes coming from certain instances that might be suspicious.

Oh, I've never heard about gray romanticism or gray gender before.

[โ€“] Wander@yiffit.net 5 points 2 years ago (4 children)

This used to be possible with Xposed framework, but I don't know if that is still a thing.

Woah I saw troll face and then I stopped seeing him.

Can I have a link please?

[โ€“] Wander@yiffit.net 7 points 2 years ago

But... But... What about that 3D tour of the colosseum? That rocked.

Lemmy only stores images that are uploaded to your instance and thumbnails for external links. You'll have to switch to object storage eventually.

There's been a lot of progress today! Also a few questions have been raised which I'll have to look into tomorrow.

Thank you everyone who joined, posted or commented in any way. You're awesome.

Even if this never gets as big as reddit (although at this point who knows?), in the end what matters is quality over quantity and I feel we're on the right track โค๏ธ

The only subreddits that's really doing anything about it is YiffBondage and Yiffgif, who have the same moderator (here's the link to their announcement: https://redd.it/14641t4)

All other subreddits I'm subscribed to won't do anything. r/yiff and r/gfur haven't said a word as far as I know.

This hasn't anything to do with me running yiffit. For all I care they could setup their own yiff focused instance. The reason I care is because anyone who believes that Reddit won't be ready to kill yiff subreddits to appeal more to advertisers is seriously deluded.

To be honest I believe that by the end of 2023 Reddit will have banned NSFW subreddits or at least most fringe NSFW subreddits just like imgur recently did the same. They're just dealing with this 3rd party app thing first and after people have stopped caring about that they're going to hunt down NSFW subreddits, starting with yiff or anything that's "weird".

If they don't speak up now, it'll be eventually too late.

We've gotten over 100 sign-ups since launch, which is a massively good start, especially considering that everyone in the lemmyverse can subscribe to our communities and participate.

Now we need to keep the ball rolling to gain more and more momentum.

Here's some ideas:

  1. Go over to !chat@yiffit.net or https://yiffit.net/c/furry@pawb.social and introduce yourself. Your yiffit account gives you access to countless local and remote communities.
  2. Post your favorite artwork, SFW or NSFW (remember to give attribution)
  3. Create a new thread about your favorite food, hobbies or projects! Sharing art is only half what this instance has to offer.
  4. Create your own "subyiffit" / community and moderate it as you see fit. Carve out your own space.
  5. Help us come up with a name for our yeen mascot.
  6. Post here from any Mastodon account by simply mentioning it's name. For example @furry@pawb.social or @chat@yiffit.net
  7. Tell your friends!

Corporations like reddit are counting on our inaction to keep control, but we have a golden opportunity to create queer, authentic furry platforms, run by furries, for furries.

Let's go!

I've seen this mentioned a few times already: people wondering why certain communities don't show up in their instance. You need to first search for that community via the magnifying glass icon and type in "!communityname@instance.domain"

Notice the exclamation mark at the beginning. Might take a few seconds. This will teach your instance about the remote community.

Hello everyone,

I managed to make some minor changes to Lemmy's default CSS Theme and uploaded that as a new theme which I set as the default for my instance.

I'm looking forward to making much larger changes, but I wanted to share the process since it took me a while to understand and thought other admins might find it interesting.

  1. Download the theme you want to customize and its corresponding SCSS file.

In my case I just did darkly.css and _variables.darkly.scss

  1. Edit them You can override classes and properties of the default styles.css by adding them to that theme and giving them a higher priority with !important.

  2. Change the name of the files, for example "defaulttheme.css" and "_variables.defaulttheme.scss"

  3. Upload the files to your server to the lemmy install folder. It's probably something like "/srv/lemmy//volumes/lemmy-ui/extra-themes/"

  4. Enable the theme on your profile to make sure everything looks alright.

  5. As instance admin, go to main settings and set the new theme as the default for all users.

In my case what I did was simply removing the NSFW blur, which doesn't make much sense to have if you've already agreed to see NSFW content. Anyone who still wants to have the blur can switch back to any of the other themes.

I'm not skilled at CSS, but I'll try to make some more changes to customize the site's experience.

Anyways, I hope somebody will find this useful.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but posts created on Lemmy with images don't show up with images on Mastodon.

I've started running an instance based on artwork and this is a bit of a problem since it would allow us to advertise our communities to thousands of Mastodon users. Futhermore, since our images are often NSFW, Mastodon users clicking on the link that's currently visible on their version can't load the content since they often don't have an account.

It would be awesome if images posted on Lemmy would also show up on other parts of the Fediverse, since it's a huge missed opportunity for Lemmy and community self-promotion in my opinion.

Fuck reddit and their corporate BS. I hope Lemmy and other fediverse platforms take off.
