I get why they'd use something like this to save money and time but, is suspect that correct use would include a human check before charging people.

We need to start pushing for laws on this kind of thing. Automated checks are fine if you, as the company, trust they won't have too many false negatives. If you aren't checking for false positives, though, you should be heavily fined for each false report. $25,000 per false report sounds like a good place to start. Hopefully that would be large enough to not just be the cost of doing business.

I don't remember which phone, but one of mine had an rgb led that could be set to blink different colors for different apps. I really miss that!

I don't like Trump and I'm positive there weren't millions bussed from Mexico to vote. I also don't like disinformation.

Just looking at school busses, there are approximately 480,000 school busses in the US. Enough to carry 10-30 million people at once, depending on average bus size

I don't have time to dig deeper, but im sure there are enough city busses in the US to carry a few million more.

How about no... What, they want to widen I-25 again?

Man, fuck these people. They obviously don't want justice and don't believe in liberty, certainly not for all. They are so anti American that they break the Pledge of Allegiance on a daily basis.

This is what we need! Less science, more militarized law enforcement!

Who else would do it at this point?

But I'm aware that the US legal system has a looong way to go before it can accomodate for such distinctions.

And we're moving farther from that goal with every decision handed down by our Supreme Court.

Thanks, I normally don't comment without reading... I guess I got lazy...

I know nothing about this guy. Another asshole billionaire?

Yeah, Robin hit me hard, too, but not as hard as Bourdain. I liked Robin more from when I was a kid while I identified with Bourdain as an adult. He inspired me to travel and is the reason I met my wife.

I'm a white guy from a fairly non-diverse city. I was at a grocery store today where a cashier opened up their line to serve me and, I thought, the person behind me. As they were serving me, though, they put up their lane closed sign right in front of the black man behind me. The buy was just trying to purchase some tuna, bread, and peanut butter.

The cashier basically decided to serve me, a middle class white man, but refused to serve the black man behind me. I was so shocked that I didn't say anything. It is possible that I misunderstood the situation but it seemed so blatant.

What should I have done in this situation? Should I have spoken up? Would that have just been more embarrassing for the man who was being discriminated against?

Honestly, I'm still just in shock to see someone treated so poorly when they were simply trying to buy food for themselves. I recognize that means that I'm sheltered but I also feel like I should be able to use my unearned privilege to help others who are being discriminated against.

I keep running into issues where I'm unsure of which account I'm currently using. It would be nice if it were more obvious at all times. Two things that would help me are:

  • always display the current user somewhere, regardless of what content is being viewed.
  • allow setting different color themes for different users.

I use Podcast Addict and have recently noticed location-based ads in my podcasts. Adds that are local to my large town / small city. The app doesn't have location permissions, so how are the podcasts embedding localized ads?

They decided to give a show today. Six of them were hanging out on the dock, but when I stopped to take pictures, they all decided to take off and do circles over the lake.

I got lucky and this guy posed for me for about five minutes. I tried to get some in flight, but they're simply too fast for me!

This beautiful bird has been hanging out at our local lake for the last several weeks. I've been trying to get some pictures of him and he finally got close enough for my lenses.

Three or four of these guys have been hanging out in the lake near my house.
