OK yeah, if it popped up on the same page in response to the second question, and the second question didn't pop up in the same way after the first one, it indeed seems like it's related. (Did you also try with a different answer? i.e. did it pop up regardless of your answer?)

I have no idea what the point of the question is, but that holds regardless of whether it's correlated or not, haha.

It's weird, too - I think these just got removed from the desktop Firefox new tab? Why would it then be added to Android at about the same time?

Aren't those questions independent of each other? i.e. that no implication was intended by having the third question follow on your second answer?

The result of that survey is here, and the most popular new features were:

• Ability to customize your privacy, permissions, accessibility, and display settings on a site-by-site basis
• See and understand what sites, trackers, scripts that the browser is blocking
• Customize the visual look and feel of the browser (e.g., customize buttons and keyboard shortcuts)

Okay, let’s talk about gear.

Helmets keep you alive. If you’re not wearing a helmet with a chin bar (full or modular), you don’t care about your face. On such a helmet, the face shield keeps shit out of your eyes and noise out of your ears. If your helmet does not mitigate wind noise very well, you should be wearing earplugs. Tinnitus is no joke. I like the ones with the little plastic filter in them, but even cheap disposable foam ones are better than nothing, and yes, you will still be able to hear traffic noises just fine.

You’ll want to replace your helmet every three to five years, because the foam inside degrades and loses its ability to absorb impact. If you accidentally drop your empty helmet on the ground, it’s fine; if the helmet hits the ground with your head in it, it’s time for a new one.

Airbag vests are great and offer protection from organ damage due to impact. You like your organs. I believe there are also helmets that have neck airbags in them to keep your head from snapping around and breaking your neck.

The rest of the gear is to reduce injury. You won’t die without it, but you will hurt. Maybe a lot.

Gloves, pants, jacket all prevent abrasions. Tall boots with proper stiffening also keep your ankles from getting broken. The armor pads are designed to protect the areas of your body that are most likely to skid against the ground: knuckles, palms, knees, butt, elbows, back. All of this gear doesn’t have to be replaced on any time schedule, or if you slide in it, but you can easily determine whether it’s damaged enough to need replacing. Armor pads are normally removable in jackets and pants.

Yeah hence the "mostly" - travelling to/from the UK is a similar hassle. Really not the direction I'm hoping train travel to move in...

The horror story being that their owners left for vacation without telling anyone to water their plants.

Het lastigste is het voor de starters van de afgelopen paar jaar, die misschien nog nét een huis hebben kunnen kopen door hun financiën zo ver mogelijk te rekken, en daarbij dus afhankelijk zijn van de hypotheekrenteaftrek. Wellicht is daar ook weer wat op te bedenken, maar daarmee wordt het misschien weer heel lastig uit te voeren voor de Belastingdienst...

I can imagine part of the reasoning there being that we need to keep a clean slate there to be able to raise levies on state-subsidised products coming from (mostly) China without attracting massive counter-levies.

Er zal wat verschil zitten in hoeveel mensen er per koophuis wonen vs. hoeveel per huurhuis, en er zijn natuurlijk ook daklozen, maar heel ver van die 57% zal het niet afzitten lijkt me.

Maar er zijn genoeg werknemers die een koopwoning hebben, zeker onder de wat oudere generaties, lijkt me. Denk maar aan de ouders van de meeste (semi-jongere) mensen die je kent. En er zijn natuurlijk de mensen (/studenten) die geen koopwoning hebben, maar er wel op rekenen die later te krijgen, bijv. met hulp van hun ouders.

Maar qua stemgedrag maakt denk ik meer uit dat er een flinke groep huiseigenaren is die sterke gevoelens heeft over het in stand houden van de hypotheekaftrek, en verder mensen niet zo veel mening erover hebben. M.a.w., je trekt niet bijzonder veel stemmen door te roepen dat je het gaat afschaffen, in vergelijking met hoeveel je er trekt als je het in stand wil houden.
