You don't need car insurance until you actually buy a car so you're good there. It will require being renewed every few years but that's a lot cheaper than the auto insurance. I say grab it. Like you said, could be useful if you ever need to drive someone in case of an emergency, or want to take over on road trip or something like that.

AI looks to be a lot faster with it's disruption than politics will giveul us UBI. It probably doesn't help that our politicians are so old.

Let's go to space, start mining asteroids.

I finally decided to watch Battlestar Galactica this week! Well, my partner made me watch it. I'm up to episode 4 or 5 and have been really enjoying it so far. I love the way it shows people from all through the chain of command, every episode has a tense emotional or political situation. The contemplations on leadership reminded me of one of Matt Colville's political videos. This one. I am hating Gaius Baltar, though, but that seems to be the point of him lol.

The tough part will be resisting going online to look at discussions on past episodes because I'm terrified of running into spoilers. She said this show has some big twists that have the risk of being spoiled, especially since it's such an old show.

I think in return I'm going to have to make her watch The Expanse sometime when we're done with this series. They're very different and about different things, but they're also both good sci-fi shows with some political themes.

I know it's become a meme, but because capitalism. I'm surprised gamers more gamers aren't against it because it only ever makes our favorite hobby so much worse.

Glad to see The Onion's still got it lol

Holy crap. Glad I got the disc Playstation so I can go back to buying used games instead of relying on Extra.

Thanks!

Now if only I could get my group to meet up more than once every 3 months...

I have to watch that. Although it sounds like not a very happy watch when I'm already on edge all the time from current news.

That's unfortunate considering they're the biggest instance.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but since I've never heard of a Jamaican Revolution, so I'm guessing they also won their independence without bloodshed.

LGBTQ rights I feel like have made huge strides without violence. There was the Stonewall riots, of course, but since then most of the rights have been achieved mostly through normalization and exposure through pop culture and stuff like that. Of course, some people are trying to rewind those, but conservatives are like that with all rights that aren't specifically for white men.

Even if a cop is on a power trip if you ask them they will help you.

I was with you until about here. I've seen cops shoo away people in need rather than even deign to give directions. I would say the majority I've seen have been very unhelpful and the encounters that have been nice or cordial have been the extreme minority. It's like their default is power trip mode.
