I think of the "bad" dates I would want to be able to warn other women of that didn't rise to the level of calling the cops. The guy who ordered triple the food and drinks I did and skipped out on the bill. The guy who flat out lied about multiple things and then got irate when I politely excused myself from the date. The MAGA weirdo who went on an unhinged rant about how I needed to submit to him because God said so. I imagine some men have comparable experiences with some anti-social women. The experiences coming to mind were not illegal, but were absolutely things I want to spare my fellow humans from.

I would prefer the dating apps themselves have some mechanism for disincentivizing anti-social behaviors. It would have to be more than a simple 5-star rating.

I wonder how it would work IRL to offer the ability to write a few sentences in response to prompts about a date. The written review is not published as-is, but is used in grouping of many reviews to give a summary about a person. Like the summary product reviews on Amazon now. "Bill's dates found he was prompt and polite. Some dates expressed discomfort at some of his political views" and "Bob's dates warn he is often late and is quick to use foul language to describe women. Multiple dates report no intention to communicate with Bob further". "Ben's dates report he has skipped out on the bill repeatedly, and sends unsolicited dick pics. Multiple dates have blocked him".

The group summary gives a buffer so the person reviewed doesn't know which specific date said what. And ensures the summary doesn't include negative comments about a person unless multiple dates of theirs independently report similar experiences.

Of course a bad actor could ditch their dating profile and start fresh any time they build up enough negative reviews to make their summary look bad. And of course the reviews and the summaries would have to be secured tighter than "Tea" is.

Mike Tyson, in the air on a Southwest flight. I waited outside the toilet for it to come free. He stepped out and made intense, direct eye contact with me. I quirked an eyebrow. He gave a slight nod. I sat back down and waited for land.

Absolutely. "Age Verification" is my nickname for my VPN and I use it all the time for all sorts of things.

I am 0% surprised that Hertz would be the first in the US to roll this out. Expecting a Steve Lehto YouTube video about it within the next three days ...

(psst, I'm explaining why they may have structured the question in the way they did, not explaining what I consider to be sex)

Easy. "Sex" is only P in V. Anything else isn't sex. Probably also the type of people that insist trans men aren't men, etc.

Trans women are coming into the ladies' to... listen to me pee? Still not sure what they're allegedly doing in there.

Lesbians are also hearing me pee and that makes me uncomfortable (/s). The real solution is obviously requiring everyone to wear ear plugs in public restrooms.

Also wondering about correlation between pee-play fetishism rates and American conservatism? I hypothesize there is a strong correlation given how seriously they treat pee sounds heard between the genders and sexes.

Don't kink-shame the conservatives with their pee-play fetishes! Wear earplugs!

I subscribe to radio stations through my podcast app, Podcast Addict, though I expect others have the functionality too. An Indy Alt station out of New York, an EDM station out of Sydney, etc. new music curated by real, human DJs.

Life jackets also get caught on things. So if it's wide open and free from anything to snag on, great, enjoy the terrifying not-lazy river ride. If there are things to snag on, like I assume the Texas flash floods, then a lifejacket would also be a liability.

I've done some downriver rapids canoe/kayak stuff, by no means an expert nor even knowledgeable hobbyist. On a certain river trip, fast-flowing with lots of submerged trees, they had us drill unclipping jackets and wriggling out of them while submerged.

Friendly reminder that Facebook started as FaceMash, an app for men at Harvard to rate the attractiveness of women.

Both are bad. At least these women are nominally using it for safety and not just looks rating.

Finally, I would be really darn cautious of using any app like FaceMash or Tea. Seems like a great way to get sued for defamation. Or to become the target of escalated behavior of one of the bad ones.

I'm using Boost for Lemmy on Android and when others post spoiler tags, I still see the text that should be hidden until tapped. Being able to see through spoiler tags is keeping me from engaging as readily with spoiler-filled communities.

Is there any adjustments I can do to fix it or is it something that can only be done at app or instance or Lemmy as a whole level? TY.

Anyone with an Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield plan will soon have to pay out of pocket for anesthesia if a surgery or procedure goes longer than expected, according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

The health insurance provider said they will no longer pay for anesthesia care if a surgery or procedure goes beyond a specific time limit. This will apply to patients in Connecticut, New York and Missouri.

The American Society of Anesthesiologists said Anthem can pre-determine the time allowed for anesthesia, and if an anesthesiologist submits a bill where the actual time of care is longer than Anthem's limit, the company will deny paying for it.

Inspired by a post since deleted, I feel bad for probably coming off judgemental about the poster's taste in the movie that drove him to consider sailing.

The earliest desired media I can remember that drove me to figure out sailing was DC Talk, a Christian rock band. Pop music was not allowed in my house, so a Christian group was tantalizing and scandalous to a rebellious, young Vanth. Things escalated from there.
