Well, it wasn't a loss, but it wasn't exactly a win to be proud of.

The Bombers' defense did a couple of impressive things - mainly stopping the Redblacks at the goal line in that early drive - but they ultimately give up way too many yards. It was incredibly frustrating to see them break through to Dru Brown, only for him to somehow scramble a way and complete a pass in the 3rd. It also sucks that Dru Brown was hurt on the play - I hope he gets back into it soon.

The Bombers' offense was...good enough to get the job done, I guess.

The team ultimately seems unable to play a complete game, and haven't met a lead that they're not willing to squander.

"Federation Standard" is definitely just English - the people of New Eden spoke it, despite being moved to that planet during WWIII, well before the Federation was formed.

holy hell are spoilers so difficult to use on Lemmy

You're not wrong, but fortunately these threads are fair game for spoilers - no syntax needed.

I thought this one was a tonal mess - so much so that I was convinced the whole thing was going to turn out to be a training simulation or something.

This show is usually so good at setting a clear mood, but this one was so all over the place, I didn't know how seriously to take the situations the crew(s) found themselves in.

Before all the BS with CBS News happened, I really thought that Skydance was the best of the potential buyers that were floating around at the time.

He's got a steep hill to climb, but this might be a positive sign.

He's with the Prophets now

It's the internet. There's going to be "backlash" regardless.

Though to be honest, people seem pretty high on SFA, both here an in other online spaces I visit.

I think there's a lot of potential in the concept, and the trailer looked great.

Either way, I'd much rather talk about the show than the people talking about the show.

Two crews of CFL officials will take part in NFL training camp joint practices starting on August 13. No NFL officials will travel to Canada this year but the two leagues will explore future opportunities for a northward exchange in the future.

I had no idea such a program had ever existed...

Yeah, that has to be it, even though that's not what the Doctor actually says.

Much has (justifiably) been said about the merger, and the path to how we got here, but everyone seems to agree that David Ellison is in the business because he loves movies - the whole company was practically a vanity project, rather than a moneymaking scheme.

While Canada is not joining France in recognizing a Palestinian state, it is funding the Palestinian Authority's preparations to lead a globally recognized country that includes Gaza and the West Bank.

They apparently didn't see fit to mention that there was also a panel for Trek comics.

Ever since the RTD2 era started, I've seen a number of people insisting that Disney is ruining the show, or that they can see the corp's fingerprints all over it, or other things to that effect. These statements have come not only from the corners of the internet that I'm completely comfortable ignoring, but also from people I respect.

My question is simple: do you think this is a real phenomenon, and if you do, can you provide some examples of what you mean? The examples can be based in fact, or purely vibes-based, I would just like you to clearly identify which it is, and if it is vibes based, what makes you feel that way.

It's probably clear by now, but I just don't see it. Nothing about the RTD2 era has screamed "studio interference" to me, nor do I get a "Disney vibe" from it (Disney is such a massive conglomerate at this point, I don't even know what that vibe would be). I guess you could point to the musical numbers as an example?

Ultimately, I feel like for better or worse, RTD has been doing the things that RTD likes to do for these past two seasons.

There is one example of Disney directly influencing the show that I'm aware of: RTD has said that in "The Church On Ruby Road", Disney felt that the Doctor needed to be introduced earlier in the story, so he wrote the scene with the Doctor "rescuing" the lady with the baby carriage. And honestly? That's a pretty good note.

Anyways, no wrong answers. Just help me understand.
