Google, duck duck go when I don't want to see ads for days based on what I'm searching, Bing and Perplexity when I want to avoid doing a series of searches to learn something.

I usually hear numbers less than 10 used with times less. Do you have an example for 100 times less? I'm curious to see this figurative trainwreck.

"times less" is not an intuitive, easy to understand way of referring to a decrease in some amount or percentage.

In America, money set aside to increase bike use would have to be spent on road and path improvement to undo the anti-bike infrastructure before spending much of anything on helping people afford the actual bikes.

Yep, that ship has sailed. Time for the mods to go make their own reddit, (with blackjack and affordable api) and leave that one to burn itself down.

I'm glad to see buyitforlife on the fediverse.
Durable things are important to me because I don't have a ton of extra money, and I get very annoyed when a new item I bought wears out quickly. My job and the way I do my job are both hard on shoes, so the old "I am the destroyer of shoes!" Post was instrumental in guiding me to Redbacks. I've since learned that I need to get the Heavy Duty Redbacks and not kick things around.

I hope you find a good team, and that modding here become less of a burden to you as things progress.

Definitely family followed by maybe career though. No wonder you're stuck, you haven't decided yet which one is worth sacrificing for the other.

Is there a related job within reach that would allow you to see your family more? Would your current job consider allowing full time work from home to keep you around?

Edit. Finally noticed your second edit. Good for you! I'm glad you have made a plan that you are 100% interested in that lines up with your values.

I don't understand why either of these symbols were thought to belong on this particular button.

I mean, it's only fair.

I keep seeing stories about the amount of bot accounts flooding in. I think better not have a weakness for bots to exploit at a moment where the site is getting a lot of new attention.

This mod seems familiar. They may be the offending party behind my worst experience on Reddit, and the only mod I ever blocked.

Handed me a temporary ban for responding to a post written to the wrong sub. They didn't have time to write out a redirect link to copy and paste for lost redditors, but did have time to mark me as trouble and berate me when I suggested redirecting users. Since a temporary ban "wasn't enough," they gave a longer ban so I would "learn my lesson."

Really put a damper on my whole reddit experience.
