What is the point in dying if it won’t make a difference

You wouldn't fight for your family sitting next to you? You wouldn't defend them with everything you have? Would you apologize to them for not doing anything to stop them being raped and beaten because "it wouldn't make a difference" anyway? Do you think it would change their view of you if you sat down when they needed you to stand up the most?

People in the comments (and West, in general) don’t understand how terrible war is.

Of course it's terrible. But have you thought about how terrible being subjugated by Russia would be? They already have a track record of kidnapping Ukrainian kids and doing who knows what with them.

Do you think once the war ends everything will be happy rainbows and cupcakes? Of course not. Conquering Ukraine is the first step in atrocities against its people.

It's amazing what a story hitting the news can do. This is why a free press is so important.

Climate change compounded with Trump cutting USDA funds and staff. They're the ones researching and fighting screwworms.

I've heard the main sticking point for negotiations is that the union wants to be paid for the time they're at work and not just for the time they're in the air, which is how they're paid now. They don't get paid for boarding, deboarding, cabin checks, etc.

Air Canada is insisting on demanding free labour from the cabin crews before and after their flights.

Fuck them.

Yeah, this would happen under basically any administration.

No, most administrations would recognize she's not a threat and would let her go home and make her attend a court date in the future to sort it out. Locking her up for weeks doesn't protect anyone and it doesn't solve anything. They're doing it just to be cruel.

That's not the point. Don't be pedantic. The point is that she shouldn't be in custody at all. They had the option of letting her go home with a court date. They chose to lock her up for weeks instead.

It just comes off as cruel and judgy like a juvenile tween.

Just how conservatives like it.

Sounds like the meeting was just long enough for Trump to receive his new orders.

Wikipedia defines an invasion as:

An invasion is a military offensive of combatants of one geopolitical entity, usually in large numbers, entering territory controlled by another similar entity, often involving acts of aggression.[1]

Attacking Mexico would be an invasion.

Just don’t call any of this a plan for an invasion, U.S. government officials implore.

Go fuck yourself. It's an invasion.

Thorward said border officials had the discretion to grant Shaw humanitarian parole rather than detaining her.

There was no need to imprison a non-violent offender who had been doing everything legally and made a mistake in not renewing the travel authorization.

They should've released her and given her a mandatory court date.
