If there is one policemen arresting an ICE officer, the ICE officer is not allowed to resist the arrest. If there is one policemen arresting an ICE officer, surrounded by 20 ICE officers, none of the 20 ICE officers are allowed to resist the arrest.

And if they nevertheless do, that gets very interesting in court. Resisting an arrest is not a terribly good idea.

Hm, ok, true. It doesn't show in the hashtag search on Mastodon :( It does work just fine from PieFed, although there they have a specific field for writing tags. This one doesn't get found with #carryshitolympics (now, this comment, however, should!)

Also, I guess it should work even from Lemmy if the hashtag is in the title because that becomes text in the Mastodon post? Probably?

But whatever. Life is. :)
Still, if anyone is posting such images from PieFed, it would be cool to tag them with that to spread the good word!

Could you tag the original post as # CarryShitOlympics ? (Without the space after #)

It definitely deserves the viewers that would gain it!

Yeah, I am currently using a PieFed instance that is behind Cloudfare, because my regular instance has problems. But I have preferred instances not behind Cloudfare.

AWS, it's not really legal for any public institutions in EU to use AWS. Many do anyway, though. So yeah, some stuff might break in the society. But not that many things I use personally. Hopefully they have backups of their code on their own servers as well, so that if AWS ever disappears, they can quickly run the same code on some sensible platform. Wonder where their databases are physically located, though :D

Funny, but for me very little would change. The only one of those I use even occasionally is YT, and the videos would start appearing elsewhere. Peertube, maybe?

EDIT: Oh, I'd lose my steam library. That would be a nuisance!

Tää Rajavartiolaitoksen aiheesta julkaisema video on kyllä melkoista katsottavaa ihan vaan tiedotuskonseptinakin! Näkyy, että Rajavartiolaitoksella on katsottu Ukrainan videoita aika tiukasti. Mikähän tämän videon tyylissä on sellaista, mikä olisi epätyypillistä Ukrainan asevoimien julkaisemille videoille? Hienoa kyllä :)

Rajavariotlaitoksen ja poliisin julkaisema video Suomen viranomaisista laskeutumassa Suomea vastaan hyökänneen venäläisen kuljetusaluksen kannelle ja ottamassa aluksen haltuunsa

You probably have already seen this post, but as it's not mentioned under this post nor have you commented under that other post, I'll link it here: https://slrpnk.net/post/26927946

In other words:
There is an actual need for an app that:

  • uses XMPP
  • does group calls
  • allows grouping different chatrooms together akin to Discord's "servers" and Matrix's "spaces".
  • is compatible with pre-existing XMPP clients.

There's a mention of something called "XOWS" under that post, but also that it doesn't have most of the features required and is apparently just a program that looks good and does barely anything.

And of course, the four demands above are a huge task to implement in one client. But, apparently nobody has tried yet. Once you get the basics of that program up and running, you can give it its own little nook in Codeberg and get other people to join help you in the development. It would definitely be useful if you could take on the task!

(What language are you planning to use, BTW? :) )

I would not say a trailer adds stability. The connection between the bike and the trailer is somewhat flexible, so there's a constant yoink-yoink going on when you are going up even a moderate uphill. And the physics of pulling a trailer also mean that sometimes the trailer begins a small downhill when you're already on the flat. That means, you suddenly get accelerated as the trailer reaches the dip and rolls down it, pushing you forwards. Also when you need to stop fast, the physics are a bit different than when you are riding just a bike.

The difference is not huge, but if something, it makes holding the balance a little bit more difficult.

That must mean either a pedestrian having not used an existing sidewalk or somebody driving their car on the sidewalk.

Any idea what is really behind this newspaperclip?

Isn't that something the admins can just disable? It needs to be disabled every time the Lemmy version is updated, but so what? It's not a huge amount of work to do so!

True, but the chaos is coming anyway. The earlier it begins, the less destructive it will be.

That's a different operation, though. At least for now USA's behaviour is more akin to what they did in Iran than Iraq or Afghanistan.

The difference to the mayhem they caused in Iran is that here USA wouldn't need to worry about implanting a successor.

HUR will be handle that a thousand times better.
