I know I write some cringe comments some times but GOD DAMN.
It did happen back then, but mostly because people really hadn’t figured out how to do cqb until well after falluja. To put it in perspective falluja was the largest urban combat operation in history since Vietnam (Saigon I think?). You didn’t need to know how to enter a room until then pretty much.
MARSOC is pretty much in line with other special operations units now, but honestly you’d be surprised how many units used 1911s back then because it was tacticool
The standard issue length of barrel is going to be 13inches with that thing which makes it worse lmfao it’s the f-35 of rifles.
Edit: it also comes stock with a suppressor which also makes it worse.
The tumbling thing isn’t a myth, but it’s not the round itself that does that it’s a combination of the round along with velocity and terminal ballistics. 5.56 was made to be shot out of a 20” barrel in order to reach terminal ballistics and that’s where the yawing (tumbling) effect takes place. This makes some sense since he mentioned falluja because the marines were still being issued M16s and not m4s (m4s have a shorter barrel and therefore do not reach the required velocity with regular 5.56)
I’ve been saying a stalemate is not very likely. If you were in a Ukrainians shoes would you stay where you were? Just getting pounded by artillery until some Ahkmat guy assaults your trench? I think I speak for everyone when I say fuck no.

Yes correct the problem is there’s enough, but it’s all in the hands of greedy bastards who have too much and squeeze everyone else from ever working hard enough to ever get it.
That is pretty crazy. I saw someone mention that they should remove the excessive padding since that would make guys think twice about hitting and being hit, which would be good I think. Would also make training focus on speed and endurance instead of strength, which would make guys smaller overall and discourage steroid abuse. It sounded like a good idea I think.
Overall it’s kinda insane that every sport has weight class distinctions, but in football you can have brick walls playing against speedy twigs and it’s completely fine.
I don’t think it needs to be banned necessarily. Full contact sports have been a thing since forever. I don’t watch nor do I know the history of football so I don’t know why it seems to be different to other contact sports, but I’m sure someone could explain and maybe figure out a solution.
That’s also not true she is sprinkled in through the movie. That being said she’s basically used as a prop to demonize the entire counter culture of the era and she ends up dying because of it. She’s like the boomer cautionary tale personified.
