It does, but think about how bad of a shape Europe is right now. Guaranteed jobs in the defense sector will probably sound good to a lot of people unfortunately. Also you’re going to see a lot of Europeans say “you’re not even working hard, look at how hard the average American works compared to you!” And that’s how Europe loses its comfortable lifestyle.

I’m still maintaining the idea that French troops will be sent in to defend Odessa. Odessa is the next big fight and Ukraines last port. Russia wants to own it obviously, but in this scenario the pressure will be on the Russians if they want to fire on nato troops and start world war 3 and honestly I’m willing to bet the Russians give up Odessa in the negotiations at that point (or at least I’m hopeful of it).

NATO is a military alliance the EU is an economic one. There are big distinctions here, mostly legal ones but Russia pretty much doesn’t care about eu membership.
