I use doordash because I'm tired AF and it's 9pm (stores are closed) and there is nothing in the fridge.

Paying an extra 10 bucks to get food delivered while I can relax for 30m an drink a beer is priceless.

Yeah, I use delivery services when they offer discounts. And you can often get 2 meals for the price of 1.

It's not that expensive if you are smart about it and your use is limited. I spend less than $100/mo for delivery once a week or so.

The issue is way too many people get addicted to these services and are paying $25 for a $10 single burrito

I have feet and a car. I'd rather pay an extra $5 and save myself 30-45m of time.

everyone's public persona is an act.

including your own.

unhinged people can't tolerate non-idealistic perspectives. Bill isn't a idealist, he's a pragmatic realist kind of guy.

idealists tend to believe that any reference to a reality outside of their ideal utopia in their heads is a form of hate-speech against them.

no no, you don't understand, they are the Good Ones. And anyone else who isn't 100% in agreement with them is the Bad People.

thanks. useful to see how i got banned from multiple communities for one comment on a totally unrelated one. these people are insane.

I mean it's 2025 on the internet. If you don't like someone says you either ban them, or tell them they are mentally ill/bigot/nazi.

You can no longer just let other people have different opinions. Everyone who disagrees with you is now an evil demonic force that needs purging from your community/life.

Was recently banned from a whole bunch of DB0 communities for, as best as I can gather, downvoting once when I viewed by All (potentially accidentally while scrolling).

they won't get the donations for the next campaign, that's what. all that money will go to their opponent and the companies will probably take out a PAC to run ads against them.

politicians aren't self-sacrificial noble people either. they are in it for the money and power, and for the huge benefits they will get post-political career by coming lobbyists themselves.

Or is it just doomed to the vapidity of sterile commercialization?

It feels like everything is serious these days... and 'humor' is only of the commercial variety. Joke communities and circlejerk communities are considered 'hate groups' now. Mods will ban you for sarcastic comments on 'serious' topics, and even on non serious ones, and everything is politicized either by trolls, bots, or whackjobs.

It's boring when you can't joke anymore. I miss my internet communities of 5-10 years ago when you could joke around, and even people of different beliefs and persuasions could laugh at themselves.

Now everything is so deadly serious. It's a complete bummer. And any sort of 'edge' or sarcasm or sardonic remarks are ban-worthy.

I guess it's just poe's law run amok? I feel like mods could tell the difference 10 years ago and the non-jokey psychos were just ignored.
