Both the escalation on the southern Lebanon border and the resulting displacement have received a lot of media coverage. Hezbollah has kept saying that this is to keep IDF from being all focused on Gaza and that they would stop if a ceasefire is reached. Until about three month ago both Israel and Hezbollah have been trying to keep the level of escalation low.

This has changes as Israel attacked Beirut and threatened to turn it into "another Gaza" and boasting about how they could destroy all of Lebanon. Netanyahus government has aimed to escalate the war there, to draw in the US and other western allies.

Now whether we will see the full escalation now remains to be seen. Hezbollah is a whole different league compared to Hamas in terms of weapons and fighters.

Knowing the law and upholding the law are not necessarily the same thing though.

Britains Labour party leader Keir Starmer is also a lawyer specialised in international human rights, yet he repeatedly claimed Israeli war crimes not to be war crimes.

Germany currently has a scandal, where the ministry of education tried to defund researchers who signed an open letter, defending students rights to protest. First of all this is highly unconstitutional and unethical, because the constitution grants both freedome of speech and freedom of science. Second of all, targeting dissident scientists is particularly icky in Germany, given the Nazi history. The executor of that ministers order, who was then sacrificed to take the whole blame for it, was the head of Germanys ethics advisor council to the government.

Add in some having your settler colonial entity in the region be best buddies with that monarch, help train his intelligence and army, which then made tens of thousands of people "disappear".

Bonus points for then framing it, as the counterrevolution being motivated by antisemitism, instead of hating the supporters of their former opressor.

The Sovjets came at the invitation of the current government of that time. Also Afghanistan being pushed towards the Sovjets is a result of the US propping up Pakistan, which was proxy-warring against Afghanistan.

I would argue all colonial powers are of similiar blame in repeatedly fucking Afghanistan over.

Dont worry. On Wednesday Chancellor Scholz deemed it "disgusting" to suggest that products made in illegaly occupied territory, or ressources exploited there should not be traded with. This was an explicit aspect from the ICJs expertise, which stated that no UN country must legitimize the occupation and therefore must not engage in trade with goods stolen in the occupied territories.

Which is vastly different from being murdered and having their civilizations destroyed, like for instance the Crusaders did.

The Crusaders also did not stop from slaughtering orthodox Christians either.

When looking at the details, Persian, Arab and Mauretanian rules over people of other religions were much more tolerant and civilized than comparable European ruling situations. I guess the saddest example of these are the Spanish Jews, who flourished under the "Moors" and got genocided and ethnically cleansed by the Catholics, after they were no longer dhimmis under Muslim rule.

Dieses. In anderen EU Ländern hat man selbst in Dörfern mit hundert Einwohnern Glasfaser mit Gigabit-Kapazität.

And the message is also equivalent:

Please murder more people, but do it more silently so we don't have to pretend to care.

I dont think so. This approach would require fundamentally that the appearance aspect and the doing aspect overlap in a relevant way. But appearance happens in these events and with media present. It doesn't happen in day to day, where for instance people need more wheelchair accesible spaces. I mean people with wheelchairs will definetely notice, but their voices tend to be systematically marginalized

1,45 m human or 2,15m human?
