She might be young for a captain, but she sure has many marine friends.
Vanessa has access to various aquatic friends, ranging from real-world animals such as jellyfish, catfish, pufferfish, piranha and zoarcid; to others like Old Saltclaw, Mr. Richardson and Seashadow.
She is also befriends the giant turtle Tortuga and even the tentacle monster, the Slumbering Primordial.

Um actually ... Seashadow is not aquatic.
It is a horse.
(Though Mr. Richardson is an aquatic monkey)
