Specifically it's very possible to stimulate the vagus nerve, which helps regulate heart rhythm, with an exam like this. This is a known effect, but typically in the context of a possible adverse effect of some procedures (e.g. enema).

Grew up in Appalachia and this was common knowledge I thought. Everyone kinda knew that squirrels would sometimes eat meat, although there were guesses like opportunity or sickness as to why they did it.

I'm assuming it's a bunk article. No way this was just flying under the radar, unless the hunting part is new. Not sure I remember that being part of it.

I know it's bad for me, so I use it very sparingly, but I have a jar of bacon grease that gets used every so often. I'll be honest, I don't know anyone outside my family that still does it.

I'm also from bumfuck nowhere, so that could be an influencing factor on why I am the way I am.

My a favorite part of the vampire thing is how they died out. Turns out vampires start seizing when trying to visually process 90° angles, and humans love building shit like that (not to mention a cross is littered with them). It's so mundane an extinction I'd almost believe it.

I miss that local sexpot

I think that makes sense. I am 100% a layman with this stuff, buy if the "AI" is just predicting what should be said by studying things humans have written, then it makes sense that actual people were more likely to give serious, solid answers when the asker is putting forth (relatively) heavy stakes.

They typically leave me alone, and eat the other bugs that don't leave me alone.

Every year I believe this more and more. I've always been lumped in with the tech crowd by anyone not tech-savvy, but in reality all my knowledge is from personal troubleshooting and very limited (I'm thinking of trying Linux and that's gonna be like a whole ass event for me). I used to think that was dumb, but then I started working with more Gen Z...

They have zero idea how to troubleshoot anything. If the computer doesn't do what they expect, it's a full stop for some of them. I have "solved" so many IT problems by replugging a cable or just knowing the settings option exists. These aren't stupid kids either, they're in a tough industry and very capable otherwise. I think my generation was right place, right time to learn this stuff organically because shit just never worked quite right -- apple was largely the outlier back then.

This is why I say the Wire is the best cop show out there still, espevially growing up with a cop. It raises up the parts of police work that deserve praise; eg. the individuals that get in for the right reasons or have appropriate respect for the job once there, the opportunity police have to make a positive impact on outliers in our society, etc. It also gives a pretty realistic look at how these things go wrong or become ineffective at an institutional level (and 100% don't shy away from idiot/aggressive cops, narratively equating them to gang members). As far as I can remember there is never a "big, bad internal affairs" plot line. When it does come up it's in reference to a character's problematic behavior and treated as a fair consequence of their actions.

Watch the Wire if you havent and you like crime-drama. It's as good as it gets.

skyblivion is great marketing, and it's free to let them keep going for now. Keep people excited about a new oblivion, and then kill the only other option besides yourself. I actually think it's more likely than not that there is a last minute reversal.

Raised by Wolves. It was killed by HBO around the time of the discovery merger thing, but was a fully written (creator originally wrote it as a book, and then made it into a screenplay) and unique show. Produced by and has some directing from Ridley Scott.

The show follows two androids, Mother and Father, raising a human child alone on a desolate planet after fleeing a dying earth controlled by hi-tech zealots. This new home might be far more related to them than they realize, and maybe not always so desolate. It blends mysticism and sci-fi in a really fun way, and I will never not be angry I don't get to see how it ends.

One of the best modern series I have seen. Incredibly compelling, mysterious, and they manage to wrap it up in a thoughtful way. It's a must see if you like sci-fi.

"Thank you for waiting. The latest episode of Tonajan's version of One Punch Man will be updated on the 22nd. Please wait for a while."

A reminder that I'm not always able to get the chapter up right away (more on that in the other pinned thread), though I will try to be on top of it this week. Going forward feel free to post the chapter, and I will pin that shit. Otherwise I'll post a link as soon as I'm able!

(I see you person posting increasingly NSFW art. Careful Icarus...)

We're on break people. August is memes and speculation!

I usually wait for the translation, but just in case any of you guys are interested! I'll replace this pinned thread with the translated version as soon as I see it up.

Little slow on this one, but I got it! Enjoy!

Whats up?

I made a community and you guys were kind enough to show up. I don't expect this thing to take off in any major way, but I figure it'd be a good idea to kind of lay out what I'm planning here. That way we're on the same page, and I can hear feedback and ideas that anyone has regarding the community. All that can go here, in this thread.

I'm not the power-tripping type, and frankly I'm open to whatever. So fire away.

Anyway, the housekeeping.

Chapters

I typically catch chapters the day of release, and I'll try to be prompt about getting a link up here. Full disclosure, I am not at all involved in the translation. So, in that regard we are kind of at the whims of another team. This could change in the future, but that is the deal as of now. I'm open to throwing the untranslated chapters up as well. It's not something I check out, but if people here want it, no big deal.

Further, I can have a somewhat chaotic schedule and there are points where I will be tied up. If a release occurs during a particularly busy week I'll likely be late with the upload. In that case, I have no issue with someone else throwing up the chapter. I'm not going to go around deleting threads because I didn't get to post them. There's not a ton of people here, so I don't foresee us having an issue with a bunch of members posting the new chapter at once.

The Vibe

As a community we have to have some form of rules. I think. It's definitely a good idea either way. Currently, the all encompassing "stay chill" constitutes the whole of the law. In essence:

  • Don't be a dick

  • No racist/sexist/etc. shit (I will make fun of you)

  • Just enjoy a fun manga about a bald dude that punches real good.

The community is currently not marked NSFW. So, just...no overt porn, please. I don't want it dominating^(hot)^ the community, and I guarantee you there is a plethora of separate places to find and share your goods.

As for the look, I've forgone the banner at this point. Personally, I like the simple look with the simple Saitama. As with most things regarding the community, I'm open to change. Feel free to post some choices for a banner, and we'll figure out which we like best.

Third Act

Again, I welcome input here. Drop whatever thoughts you have below.

I'm happy to see a few people join, and love seeing the little bit of activity we've got so far. I'm hoping to build this into something just big enough to have a little discussion after a chapter drops and memes in between. If you can dig it, I hope you stick around.
