I loved it too. The m7 was excellent, then the m8 managed to level up everything great about the m7. Amazing phone.

Yeah - for years it was a primary deciding factor for me when it was time for a new phone - HTC One m7, HTC One m8, Moto X Pure Edition all had front facing speakers. I think by the end there were simply no longer any options though... And now 10 years later, they're still pointing the speakers at the damned ground. 😿

I'm so far on the opposite side on this one though - I always have preferred large screen devices and today, I ADORE my folding pocket tablet most of all. 😍

I have no idea why these terrible downward facing speakers took off, HTC had it nailed in 2012. RIP, king of smartphones. I'm glad to at least have 2 proper speakers on my Fold6 and 7, rather than an amplified earpiece speaker... But this is just not how sound works. I shouldn't have to cup my hand around the side to point the sound in the proper direction.

Same same. I moved to Firefox for Android back then and use ublock to hide their nags forcing you to use their app. And of course the ads they were trying to shove down our throats by killing third party apps. It's still a great repository of knowledge that I'll search via Google, but otherwise I browse for fun here.

Ignoring all the other obvious issues... How would this even work if these gestapo fuckers are rounding people up at Home Depot and court houses and routine traffic stops? Just like every Trump voter who never thought it would happen to THEM when tornado relief was denied or they were deported or their farm was on the brink of financial collapse thanks to tariffs, Musk seems to have thought he was safe? That HE could control Trump? I knew getting these two megalomaniacs together like this would go badly, I'm just impressed it lasted so long honestly.

Yeah, in retail I discovered time is just a construct and just planned my sleep around my shift. If I closed tomorrow, I'd just get to bed tonight about 02:30 so I could be up at 10:30. I spent more time exclusively in an opening shift in my 15 years, and so I certainly preferred waking up at 04:30. On any of the schedules that I wrote, I always gave some space around a schedule flip if I needed an opener to close or vise versa, because I know it sucks.

For a year, I worked a single overnight shift and 9-5 otherwise - so I'd just stay up all day Saturday, just basically pull an all-nighter and work through the night Saturday night and then tried to nap as early but as little as possible Sunday so I could still sleep Sunday night ahead of my 9am shift Monday.

There's definitely a variety of shitty schedules in retail. Sucks.
