Take the Nether for example, many biomes are absolutely crawling with Hoglins and Piglins that can and will gang up to kill you if you're not careful. However, when it comes to the Hoglins, their aggro ranges are not unmanageable, they make plenty of noise alerting you to their presence and you can even ward them off with warped fungus. The Piglins will mostly ignore you if you wear at least one piece of golden armor (at least until you open a chest or try to mine gold) and they also avoid soul torches. With the addition of the gold bartering system, the piglins are probably the most interesting mob in the game, simultaneously dangerous and helpful. I like how they feel like intelligent beings that kind of tolerate you showing up on their turf if you behave.

I hadn't played much with the big Nether update and I really enjoy the mobs and mechanics it introduced. By comparison, most of these hostile mobs just fly up to you from a continent away and kill you in three hits

There are also mods that add all the mobs and mob variants from the now discontinued Minecraft Earth, like this one:

I like having cool chicken variations chicken-bop

You might want to disable the Moobloom in one of them though since it's also covered in Friends and Foes.

Minecraft? More like Minecrack

I had forgotten how addicting this shit was sweat

Those annoy me less since I'm not compelled to mine them unlike copper and the new rock variants just register as background to me. With ores I feel like harvesting all of them from my mineshafts for completeness' sake, especially since the shader I'm using adds a slight glow to most of them so they stick out. I already have chests full of unsmelted copper ooooooooooooooh

After months of riding my cruiser bike with raised, chopper style handlebars I had to take my spare bike that's more of a regular mountain/road hybrid since it has a rear rack and front basket to move some stuff around and wow, was it uncomfortable visible-disgust

Why would I choose hunching over the handlebars while perched high atop a tiny hard saddle like some wretch when I could sit in comfort with my back and arms straight and the center of gravity nestled squarely under my ass that's cushioned by a giant soft seat? Making turns also feels much better with wide handlebars even at low speeds and I can make a pretty tight U-turn and turn back on narrow roads.

Got this thing abandoned and broken and it's become the most beloved bike I've ever had. The only bad thing about it is that it's almost completely ruined regular bikes for me.

No reason to limit yourself to just PS1, since most 50+ dollar devices can do that- while GC and PS2 support is hacky at best, you should be able to do Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast and PSP with upscaling.

I googled starfield ad login screen and this is not even the only Starfield™®© image in rotation

When I first upgraded to Windows 10 on the very last day you still could upgrade from Windows 7 for free, it was just pictures of beautiful landscapes or ancient monuments along with a short blurb about them where the PLAY STARFIELD WITH PC GAME PASS text is in this picture. I didn't specifically turn that login screen on but I liked it so much that I kept it on. Then, maybe a year ago(?) the text stopped being about the image and turned into a generic blurb for various Microsoft services, most often Game Pass.

This is the first time I remember the image itself just being a straight up ad for something. I'm sure they were feeling clever because it's an atmospheric piece of concept art that kind of looks like the kind of photos they typically have in the rotation for these login screens.

Resident Evil did it because of a bug originally but they kept it because it was a strong aesthetic choice and let them just render the background as a fixed image rather than a 3d polygonal space or whatever - or at least that's what I heard and half-remember lol. I know they for sure did that with older rpgs like Baiten Kaitos, which makes the backgrounds look absolutely beautiful for less processing time. Although, I guess processing isn't as much a concern today given last gen and current gen consoles are pretty beefy.

To be clear, I didn't mean fixed camera angles AND pre-rendered backgrounds, though the two were definitely synonymous at first. Silent Hill and Dino Crisis on the PS1 already had 3D game worlds with semi-fixed camera angles that allowed things like seamless tracking shots of the player as they moved through the environment.

It's definitely disempowering which is great for horror games, it's more cinematic because the dev controls EXACTLY what you're seeing at any given point (you'd never miss something important cause you whip panned by it in first person).

Speaking of the Project Zero/Fatal Frame series, when the PS2 games wanted to show a spooky ghost, they would cut to a new camera angle that showed the ghost off, but the player character remained on screen and control didn't need to be taken away from the player, making the cuts feel more seamless since you're already used to camera angles changing constantly

In the fourth game they stop the game and cut to a zoom in on whatever they need to show you

I actually would not mind a Dino Crisis remake in the style of the Resident Evil 2/3/4 remakes at all

I think there was news that Capcom had specifically rejected a Dino Crisis remake some time ago though ooooooooooooooh

Jiggling boobs and related things like panty shots in video games have a long history, especially in Japan, going back to hand-animated 2D arcade games. I think it's just horny hetero cis male nerds designing and animating female characters and putting all of their fetishes on screen.

While I guess there's some initial basis in reality "boobs are squishy and would respond to movement" (at least if no bras are involved) video game boob physics have basically evolved into an artform of their own far removed from the real world. Gamers expect boobs to be big and to move noticeably.

It gets funny when everyone has the same exaggerated physics regardless of what they're wearing, like in this game. Even if a woman is wearing standard office attire with a blazer there's still a mini earthquake happening in her chest everytime she takes a step. The only exception seems to be full traditional kimonos worn with obis.
